I could skip right over blogging, because the title sums me up right now: I feel like complete and utter shit. :dead:
Dan’s Man Cold? It was the flu. Guess who has it now! Me, Alyssa, Ryan, my mother and my brothers. Oh, and Jason, as well as Dan’s brother C, who gave it to his girlfriend, and Dan’s other brother, K. And I bet we gave it to at least a dozen other people at the bar on Saturday night. Meh.
He thought he was over what we thought was a simple Man Cold. And I didn’t know I was coming down with it.
So. I’ve been living on Tylenol Cold (daytime formula!), Nyquil and cough drops. Ryan’s main symptom seems to be a fever and generally feeling out of sorts, and Alyssa has been coughing and running a slight fever. Baby Motrin and Pedia Care for both of them… though since they were vaccinated for the flu season (dumbass Jenn didn’t get her vaccination!!!), they don’t seem to have it as bad as Dan did, and as I do.
I’m also 90% certain that my car’s alternator is giving out. Isn’t that just fantastic? :grumpy: It’s starting out with the same symptoms our old Kia did, and it’s right around the same mileage. Belt slipping, lights dimming randomly, subtle loss of power during acceleration and even regular driving… As soon as the belt starts slipping more frequently and the front end of the car starts making a racket like there’s a smashed soda can stuck between the tire and the wheel well, I know it’s time to park the car before it dies on the road, and get a hold of an alternator. Dan’s brother says he can handle the repair, which will certainly save us a decent chunk of change, as the old Kia’s alternator replacement cost us almost $500 (and then I went and got myself into a car-totaling car accident nine months later!). Now I just need to dig up an alternator for a 2002 Kia Spectra. New, name brand, compatible. If anyone knows of reputable online stores to look at — as I am totally lost here! — please let me know.
One thing has me a bit hepped up right now: money! I was checking out the IRS website to find out more information about the tax stimulus checks that are set to roll out. The mailing of the checks will start in early May, and should be completed by the end of July. Anyone who made $3000 or more in 2007 and filed taxes (using a 1040) and has a social security number will qualify. Of course, there are a few exceptions, but apparently the retired, disabled, vets and those receiving Social Security/disability payments ARE eligible, so long as at that income totaled $3000 or more and was received in 2007 AND a tax return was filed for it.
Well, we definitely made over $3000, we have two qualifying children (qualifying = them being your children (or adopted) with social security numbers), and we filed taxes. So… we’re looking at $1500 – $1800, depending on how the IRS figures things out. Either way, we’ll have enough to tackle a few projects with.
So… it’s Nyquil time… I’ll wrap up this entry with a few photos I took on Monday.

I lied. This photo is from Sunday, taken with my cell phone, while I was driving home from the grocery store.

Hope you feel better soon!
Cat eyes are so cool! I love those pics. I can’t wait until May to get my check. Of course I am only looking at about $300, but hey, that’s better than nothing. I will probably put it towards a new computer I am saving up for.
Aw, I’m sorry you all are sick and feeling so horrid.
I believe if you are claimed as a dependent on someone else’s return you can’t get it either . It’s pissing me off, b/c my parents claimed me this year and I made $8,000 AND they withheld $411, I should’ve gotten it all back as an exemption BUT since they claimed me I only got $210 of it. SO I won’t get a stimulus check either. The worst part? They didn’t need to claim me to get their max refund, he makes $20k with 4 people in the household. BAH. Lamesauce. Maybe I’ll manage to weasel some out of my mother (since they’re getting $300/kid).
Sorry for my mini rant on parents and taxes.
Are you ever NOT sick? All you ever blog about is being sick. You obviously have a severe psychological disorder which manifests itself as a physical illness. I recommend you seek some psychotherapy for your constant need for attention. It is not a good environment for innocent children to be exposed to.

When I was a teenager and living at home from 16 to 21 if I remember correctly about the ages….I worked part time, etc. From like 18 to 21 I had full time jobs and went to school and made probably what you did and more. So my mom still claimed me and got the earned income credit or head of household thing that lets you get more money back. I don’t know what it’s called so bare with me. I still filed my little tax check every single year and got back every single dime I paid in because I was student or not making much money.
You need to check on that on the IRS site because I know all of my teen aged cousins have filed their taxes and their parents still claim them. One would think that since you worked and made money that you would qualify for the stimulus too.
Now as for Jenn. YAY I want my money too. The way I read it you’ll get the $1800 and we will get $1500. At the least we’ll both be getting $1200 even if we don’t factor in the children, unless they’ve changed something on me since I read the news. We’re thinking vacation although the really responsible little person I’ve buried deep into my soul says PAY BILLS!
I hope you feel better soon! That’s great about the money and I really like the pictures that you took. I hope this doesn’t come out the wrong way (being the internet and all…) but your pictures really have improved! I loved the ones of the cats eyes.
I hope you all start feeling better soon, Jenn! I know all too well how the flu bug is this year… we just got over ours. And thank you so much for your advice about the money situation on my blog- I appreciate it, as always.
Hey Jenn, I hope you feel better very soon hun. Its not good being sick.
Money Money Money it makes me hungry lol (I’m random Sorry) Good luck with that. I hope you get as much back as possible, Why not? You guys earn it and should be entitled to get it back.
Lovely photography, what type of camera do you own? They take magnificent pictures. Very creative stuff there.. Great job.
Anywho take care of yourself. If you don’t mind I added you in my links section
xx
Here’s to hoping that I don’t get sick anytime soon. :knocks on wood: Husband has had a cold since this past Sunday that I am attempting to help him recuperate from. I don’t know what it is, but it seems like ever since I had my wisdom teeth extracted that my immune system is at its best and am rarely sick.
Whenever I had an alternator go out, we always went to a local junk yard to get one. Alternators are like the cheapest thing to replace on vehicles.
Aya: You’re kidding, right? Because I was sick with a late summer cold in September, and then had two rounds of a stomach bug in December and January, and now I’m sick with the flu, as is my entire family as well as part of Dan’s, I’m suddenly off my rocker and sick all of the time?
Whatever. Get real, and then get lost.
Ranee I think I’ll look into that. I tried filing an exemption for myself and the IRS denied my return until I changed it. We’ll see when those letters go out though. Thanks for the input.
Wow, because when you’re sick you need shitheads like aya saying you aren’t really sick. People suck. Hope you get to feeling better Jenn.
I hope you feel better soon! Blueboy’s nose is so cute! I like the one you took with your cellphone too, it turned out so well! What type of phone do you have?
Jenn I read that comment from Aya and wondered if she hadn’t heard of the super flu and the really bad strain and the fact that everyone who got a flu shot was bitching about how they have been sick since they got it? It’s a bad year for THE FLU!
Oh well, tis the net. I seem to remember someone telling me last year that Karma was making me sick.
alternators are so so so cheap to replace. seriously $80-120? or go to a junk yard. we replaced ours in our Rodeo super cheap. but it’s smart to replace that plus the battery.
