To the back burner

The mom/printer/money/I-suck-hardcore drama is forgotten, for now. Not quite two hours after our little spat over MSN, my mom calls me, and starts talking when the answering machine picked up: “Jenn, please pick up, it’s an emergency.” We were on our way out the door, but obviously I hear emergency and bolt for the phone.

My grandfather is in the hospital. Again. Apparently he was very lethargic, confused and sporting very high potassium levels at his dialysis appointment on Wednesday afternoon, so the center called an ambulance and had him transported to the ER. The whole situation sounds scarier than it is. I mean, it isn’t good that my grandfather is in the hospital, but he isn’t near death or anything like that. His kidneys are shot, and he is on a lot of medication for them, his heart and high blood pressure, and also has dialysis three times a week. The doctors are thinking that some sort of combination of his medications, not enough dialysis, too much potassium-rich food, or some combination of the above caused the spike in potassium in his system, and the resulting lethargy and confusion.

While my mom quickly fed my brothers dinner and got them in bed, Dan and I took the kids and made a very quick trip to the store for a few essentials: baby wipes, fabric softener, dryer sheets and cat food. We got home, and I wolfed down my dinner in less than ten minutes and was back out the door and heading over to my mom’s so she could go to the hospital and find out what all is going on.

As of now, he’s stable, alert and aware of what’s going on. And, of course, lots of tests are being done to pinpoint the culprit, and hopefully come up with a resolution so that this won’t happen again.

The drama. It. Never. Ends. EVER. If it isn’t one thing it’s another, you know?

I’m tired.

And I’m still laughing my ass off over the Truck Nutz Dan and I spotted on a car in front of us a red light. They actually swung to the side, like real testicles would, when the car made the wide left turn. Dan and I really laughed then!

And Truck Nutz? Who comes up with this stuff?? I can’t believe the page says “Check out these nutz!” That’s hilarious.

Yikes, sorry to hear about your grandpa, but like you said he’s doing alright just trying to find the culprit of the troubles though tests and such.

That picture is so funny, I have seen the Truck Nutz on trucks, but never a car…. I would be laughing to if I saw them on a car in person…

I am sorry to hear about your grandfather, but am glad it’s nothing too serious. Hopefully they are able to find the culprit soon!

That picture is quite hilarious, as well. I have never seen them on a car until now. :)

I hope your grandfather feels better soon and they find out what’s going on. :)

And I’ve never heard of Truck Nutz before, it looks silly.

I’m sorry about your grandfather, I hope they are able to find/treat whatever is causing the problems.
LOL at the tracknuts! I’ve never seen them before, but I think they’re hysterical! If I was driving along and saw them dangling off the back of the car in front of me, I have no idea what I’d do!? What on earth would possess somebody to invent those!? o.O

Wow, I’m really sorry to hear about your grandfather. :( I hope they can figure out a mixture of meds that will help him and keep him out of the hospital.

Your poor grandpa! He’s been through a lot lately and that’s so sad. I hope he gets better soon.

Uh, I’m not a fan of the testicles hanging from the car, it gives me the creeps. I do however get a chuckle when one buddy decides to slap an I Love Dick complete with photo of penis on another unsuspecting buddies bumper!
