That’s me. Or at least, how I feel right now. You see, yesterday was Dan’s 26th birthday. But I never blogged about it. I don’t think I even Twittered it. I didn’t buy or make a card, and I didn’t order a cake or throw together dinner. Unfortunately, I was so sick (relapse! joy!) that I didn’t do any of that, and laid around for most of the day, miserable beyond belief. Dan has been very understanding, knowing firsthand how awful the stomach bug was, and seeing the kids still battling with it early each morning (yesterday morning was Ryan’s turn, and today was Alyssa’s turn. I never thought I’d say this, but I’m starting to become immune to vomit.), and he knew I was sick again.
But still. I feel shitty.
I’m planning a birthday party for him next Saturday. I’d go into more detail, except he reads my blog frequently, so I’ll be keeping mum. I do, however, need to talk to my mom and Dan’s brothers and our friend Jason to cement our plans and work out the details of food and presents and all that jazz.
So because I missed it yesterday, here is is today, a day late:
Happy 26th Birthday Daniel!
I mentioned Alyssa throwing up this morning. It was around 2am, was right after I got off the phone with my mom (she called to let me know how my brothers were doing, who, by the way, got sick with the stomach bug after being here on Saturday and playing with Alyssa and Ryan and breathing into each other’s faces and all that). I had just told her that amazingly, Alyssa hadn’t gotten sick. Hah!
Anyway, Dan got up, and cleaned the kitchen floor up while I put yet another load of laundry into the washer (oh hai 28th load in a seven day period!) and got a bath going for Alyssa. After everything was cleaned and she was cleaned and dressed, I settled her on the sofa with a tiny amount of PediaLyte, conveniently placed “Please get sick in there Alyssa!” bucket on the floor next to the sofa, a pillow, blanket and cartoons.
Dan and I woke up around 9am. Checked on her, and found her sleeping on the floor in front of the television. Apparently she was inspired by the episode of Maggie and the Ferocious Beast she watched some time around 5 this morning:
Now she wants me to scrub it off, of course, but as I explained to her, it’s called permanent marker for a reason (the markers are now hidden, lol)! She wasn’t too happy when I told her she would have to just let it wear off. It’s a good thing I have nowhere to take her to this week!

might want to check this out if you want to get that stuff off her face quicker

Happy Birthday Day! You’re now the same age as Jeremy!
Alyssa looks cute with freckles ;) Hopefully it will wear off soon!
hahahah I think that any parent would totally understand the spots. ;)
using lip balm will take it off..the wonderful tricks you learn from underaged drinking at clubs!!!
LOL, that’s funny about the marker. I hope you feel better ands this bug will just LEAVE your house.
I hope you all feel better soon!
Aww, Alyssa looks so cute with those ‘freckles’!
Haha. Alyssa is rockin’ those marker spots. ^_~
She looks like an evil demon in that photo, like her brother does in most. If you were smart, you would take her out in public like that and maybe next time she’d think twice about getting into shit without asking. And wow, you’re sick again? Amazing. /sarcasm
Awwwwww, beautiful, big, BLACK permanent marker freckles. <3
Also, what is it with all the haters in your blogs? *points above* x_X’ I don’t understand, you’re like one of the sweetest bloggers I know and I run into assholes in your comments on a regular basis. Me no understandy.
LMAO @ the marker. Kids do the funniest things ever!!
LOL! Kids can be so cute.
LOL poor kid.
happy bday Dan!
i’m sure he’s understanding though. sometimes you have no choice
I’m thankful that real human viruses do not spread over computers. Yucky. This bug is never ending…. time to steam clean the walls, and carpet. Clean around the house using natural cleaners such as vinager and water and some beach. The germs will not know what hit it as they could be getting use to chemical stuff.
Happy Birthday Dan. Your older than I am now … just for a few more months anyways.
Hand Sanatizer (as I’m sure you’re probably likely to have some around) will take the marker off. Just put a little on a cloth and lightly rub in on the marker, works like a charm!
My goodness, will that bug ever end?? *squishes it* It’d be nice to be that easy to get rid of it haha. Happy (late) Birthday to Dan!! Gotta love Alyssas spots
I can’t believe you are all still sick! Ughh.
As for Alyssa, don’t you guys have any picnic ants around that can steal those spots off her face like they do the beast?
Wow I just proved I’m a geek and a total mommyblogger.
A lemon will take that marker off her face pronto.
I wrote on myself massively with Sharpie while AT WORK and my shift told me to go across to the bar (I work in an airport) and ask for a slice of lemon. The acid from the juice gets the marker off!
Maybe you shouldn’t leave a three year old unsupervised in the living room all night? Just a suggestion. You’re lucky that writing on her face is all that she did.
