Around 3am this morning Dan and I made some last minute plans to take Alyssa to the Philadelphia zoo. Until this point we’ve had the time, the money or the weather, but never all three. But at 3am this morning? Unexpected funds made their beautiful appearance. Dan has off on Sunday, my mom is able to watch Ryan for the day (he does not have the patience to sit in one spot for more than 0.05 seconds, so any long trip like the zoo would be a disaster, and not all that enjoyable), and the weather is forecasted to be warm (mid-70′s) and sunny. My car has a nearly full tank, and I just filled the Hyundai this evening, ticket, food and spending money is in my wallet, times are set for my mom to arrive Sunday morning, so all that’s left to do is try to get in touch with my dad and arrange a time to meet up, to say hi and to give him an AC unit I bought for him *last year*.
I just purchased tickets and a parking pass for the zoo online, and am in the process of printing out directions. GO ME for being on the ball. Normally I’m doing this stuff last minute — like, fifteen minutes before we have to leave. And then my printer whacks out, and we wind up running late. True story, and it’s happened more than once.
I’m excited. Alyssa had a pretty good time when we went two years ago. Now, seeing how crazy she goes when given the opportunity to pet goats and sheep at the farms around here, I know she’ll be absolutely bubbly and giddy at a zoo. They have a big petting area, too. I’m sure we’ll have to pry her off of the sheep when it’s time to leave.
I… don’t even know where I was going next with this entry. I started typing it around midnight. It’s now after 1am? I decided to sweep and mop the kitchen floor. And clean the bathrooms. See, I’m a glutton for punishment and invited my brothers over for the weekend (also to give my mom a break from them), so I know that with FOUR kids to juggle on Saturday (Dan is working 10am-7pm, so he won’t be around until dinner!), I’ll be doing good to be keeping up with the messes that’ll undoubtedly be made, let alone the extras like mopping and cleaning toilets and mirrors. So I did it all NOW, so tomorrow I can just clean up the little things as we all go along. I’m half tempted to take everyone out to the park for a good chunk of the afternoon, to spare both my sanity and to give everyone room to run and romp.
Note to self: charge camera battery, pack extra AA’s for flash, and extra memory card, just in case. Now that I switched to saving in .RAW format, the photos are 7mb-9mb each. Before they were 2mb – 4mb each. Meep.
Maybe I should have gotten the 8GB memory card, rather than the 4GB…
Oh, and thanks for the comments on the last entry. With the exception of those who all came in a little cluster to spew half-ass attempts at insults, heh. They were more amusing than anything else. I’m loving the flash. And RAW! Why did I wait so long to use RAW?! I’ve been missing so much good Photoshop and photo adjustment goodness!
Oh, and I also fixed the timestamp issue with the comments. I was using php the_date and php the_time rather than php comment_date and php comment_time. My bad!

oh you suck! I’m spending my weekend cleaning and working on getting a layout up so my site is back up. Finally interested in the net a bit so I figured I better do it while this lasts.
I can’t wait to see the zoo photos. We’ve got some special Koala couple here in Indy so I’m planning on taking Sydney there before the end of summer. But we don’t have petting stuff…blah!
Have fun, take pictures so we can live vicariously through you.

As the domain name suggests, my name is Jenn, and I own this blog. I'm 26 years old and married to my one true ♥, Daniel. And while I have two kids (Alyssa is five, and Ryan is three), you won't find "mommy" in my username or email address, nor does my blog revolve around them. I'm a mother, but most importantly I am me, with a passion for love, blogging, reading, and photography. I'm also a busy freelance writer, web designer & SEO goddess.

Yup, I must agree. RAW does rock and gives you more leeway when editing photos.
And dang..you are so lucky to be heading off to the zoo. I’ve been bugging my parents to let me know when they want to go since I have free tickets to the Toronto Zoo so we can take my nephew there and of course so I can snap photos as well. It’s been a few weeks now and they have yet to let me know. I guess they’re just waiting for warmer weather in our area which I totally understand.
Have fun and don’t forget to take plenty of photographs!! :cute:
