Horrendous.

I think horrendous is the perfect word to describe the heat today. I haven’t even been outside, but I have formed my opinion from the heat index warnings, the way the AC unit won’t stop running, the heat that blazed in through the front door when Dan came in, clothes soaked with sweat, after mowing the lawn (at his own insistence, despite me pleading with him to wait until tonight so he wouldn’t drop over from heat exhaustion).

And now, I have to go out in it. To the grocery store, no less. Pray for me. :dead:

We went to the pool yesterday. All slathered up in sunscreen, and weighed down with kids, towels, beach balls, swim sweaters, chairs and drinks. We had a blast. Ryan shocked me with not wanting to go into the pool. He screamed bloody murder when we went near it. I don’t think it was so much the pool and water that scared him, as he had a blast last summer, and loves getting a bath and launching himself into the shower with Dan and/or me, but all of the people. Yesterday was a free pool day, and it was extremely crowded. I think all of the people and noise scared him. So for the three hours we were there, he sat in the shade, played in the grass and rattled the chain link fence that enclosed two sides of the grassy, shaded area we had our stuff at, being watched over by my mom, Dan and myself, who all took turns so that we all got to enjoy time in the pool with each other and Alyssa.

The circus is in town today and tomorrow, but with heat indexes well over 100 and warnings to keep the hell inside, there’s no way I’m going out with Alyssa and Ryan, dying for three hours in the blazing, soul sucking sun.

Okay, off to the grocery store I go! Hopefully I don’t die in the time it takes the AC to kick in. When (if?) I get back, I need to rip the slipcovers off of the sofa and clean them. Again. Dan somehow doesn’t get the concept of washing the kids hands after meals, even if there’s nothing showing on their hands (like sauce). WTF. You always wash your hands after eating with them!

I’ll be sure to send some of our weather your way! It’s been 65 all day with a sprinkle of rain.

I could never take my kids to a public pool, there is so much piss and shit in there and even the chlorine doesnt kill it all. They are absolutely filthy and I wouldnt let my child stick one toe in that disgusting water.

  4. Jenna, that’s quite the passion you have there. ;) I do realize that there are plenty of germs in pool water, which is why Alyssa and Ryan are strongly discouraged from drinking any, and as soon as we get home it’s baths for everyone.

  5. We can has a swap!? I look out my window right now and see SNOW! Blergh. I hate winter. :/
Wow poor Dan mowing the lawn in that heat! I hope your garden isn’t too big!
Looks like you guys had fun at the pool, even Ryan, though he managed to stay completely dry! :P

I like Dan’s hair like that  And Ryan takes after dad and Alyssa after her mom!! I’m sorry you have to endure the heat. Here across the country it’s been nice…but it’ll change soon, ugh!

I was out in that heat for something like 9 hours yesterday (I’m a pool manager) and my lifeguards were literally DYING. It also happened that it gets to be 92 degrees when we’re shorthanded all weekend. God I hate Philadelphia summers haha.
