I am lubbed

With my mind being so caught up with Dan and Ryan, I forgot to post this little gem the other day:

Even though Alyssa tells me all of the time that I am a super Mommy, and that she lubs me, I still get what my mom calls her “hard ass” looks. I’ve been getting these looks from her since birth practically. Heh. But she’s all sugar and spice and everything nice for Dan. Hugs and kiss attacks and sweetness. But she also takes advantage of him, and has him at her beck and call. She’s totally a Daddy’s girl!

And Ryan, heh. Ryan is definitely a Mama’s boy. He loves to be with me. If I leave the room, he’s right after me. Heaven forbid I use the bathroom or take a shower and not let him in with me. The times when I leave Ryan in the car with Dan or my mom to go do something quick, like check the mail or pump gas, Ryan freaks out the moment I’m out of sight. He also has me wrapped around his little finger. He can be a little shit and do something he shouldn’t, but knows that with the right toothy smile or funny face or noise, I’ll be too busy trying not to laugh and melt to get on him.

I’d be lying if I said I don’t get totally mushy over how much Ryan loves me and being with me. Even if in the same breath I’ll gripe about how Dan lets Alyssa get away with ANYTHING. Hypocritical, I know.

My OB called today to go over the basics of the surgery, and offered to answer any questions I had. What would normally be a five or ten minute conversation turned into a half hour one, since I had lots of questions and concerns. Questions and concerns regarding the surgery, who can be in the room, picture taking, body jewelry (they want me to remove everything, but I know if I take my nose stud out I’ll have a hell of a time getting it back in, so it’s staying put, dammit), how long the closing up process is, etc. Then onto the after care – how long before I can get out of bed, how pain relief will be administered (via IV for the first 24 hours, orally after that). And then onto breastfeeding – I want to do it right away, I don’t want any kind of medicines that would cross through the breastmilk, the option of keeping Ryan in the nursery or giving him to his father if I’m really tired/loopy/out of it, etc.

I have a pre-op appointment scheduled for tomorrow afternoon, and then I go in for the c-section at 6:30am Wednesday morning. I’ll be arriving two hours early for all the fun pre-op stuff, so I can expect Ryan to be born right around 8:30am.

That was exactly two years ago. *sniffle* I can’t believe my baby boy is going to be two in exactly two days! These past two years have flown by. I’m so thankful that I have my blog to write about Ryan in, and my camera to take photos of him with. Babies and toddlers change so quickly from day to day, so it’s nice to have so many mementos to look back on and share with him when he gets older. ♥

Today I took care of the essentials for any party: FOOD! First I dropped off the latex balloons and mylar balloon that came with the animal jungle birthday party theme. Then I ordered the cake. And then I ordered a party platter (yay I don’t have to prep or cook anything this year! *dances*). Everything will be ready for me to pick up at noon on Saturday (the party starts at 2).

Dan scrubbed our living room carpet with foaming carpet cleanser this afternoon, and he’ll do the hallway leading down to the kids’ rooms and Alyssa’s bedroom tomorrow. I did most of the last minute cleaning today, so tomorrow we’ll be free to run a few errands and go shopping for Ryan’s birthday presents (we saved it for last minute because 1) we spent weeks coming up with IDEAS for presents and 2) so that they wouldn’t be sitting around tempting Alyssa to rip into them), the few food items we’ll need for Saturday (sandwich rolls, pasta salad, chips and snacks), and some paper stuff.

Anyway, I have a lot of work to do tonight, so I’ll end this blog entry with a few photos I snapped today. :)

Haha, that’s a cute picture of Alyssa. My friend has looks like that, and it only occurs when she’s thinking something evil hehe.

And that’s a completely awesome party set, I love the elephant.

  2. Aw, Ryan is getting so big! I love that theme you picked out, its so cute. But you’re right, they get too big too fast. Sometimes I wish childhood had a pause button!

That photo of Alyssa is priceless, evil glare and all. :) I’ve noticed when it comes to my children time seems to move a lot faster than I think it does. I’m always shocked when another birthday rolls around, or another milestone happens. I hope Ryan enjoys his birthday, I hope you all do. I’m looking forward to seeing the photos. :) I always love looking at your photos.

Your horse photos make me miss my horses. :(

Alyssa is so adorable. She has such beautiful eyes.

When I end up having kids, I hope he/she/they can be as beautiful as yours. :)

  5. LOL! She definitely has that “I’m going to be a hard ass” look to her!

The photo of Alyssa is so precious, what’s sad is Jeremy says I make that same face.
