Two and tired

So the weekend was absolutely exhausting. But it was fun. Danielle and Matt got here around 9pm on Friday night, right when I was getting the kidlets into bed. Ryan went down without a fight (tucked himself in and everything!), but Alyssa did the Potty Routine for another hour after I tucked her into her new sleeping bag and arranged her new Hello Kitty pillow and Hello Kitty blanket. The Potty Routine is where she pops out of her room (or in this case, our bedroom) to inform us that she has to go potty. Every five minutes. For an hour or more. Sorry, but her bladder capacity is better than that, so after the second or third time I usually get on her for it. But all things considered, pulling the Potty Routine for just an hour when we had company over and she knew Ryan’s birthday party was the next day isn’t that bad at all.

By the time Sunday night arrived I crashed hard. Of course, that’s what usually happens when you get a combined total of 15 hours of sleep over the course of three nights/three days, and have a birthday party, have lots of people over, go swimming and then go to a 1:30am showing of Dark Knight in IMAX — which is an hour’s drive away. Heh.

So, the party. Awesome, wonderful. Ryan napped for the first half of it, and we strapped him into his hugging suit once he got up, so he was fine even with all of the people and noise. The food was good, everyone showed up, Ryan was in a good mood, and we all had a nice time. The cake was also quite delicious. Speaking of which, there’s still leftovers in the fridge, so I might snag a piece later. ;)

The party wrapped up around 5:15, so Danielle, Matt, Alyssa and I went swimming for a few hours. When we got back to our house around 9, Jason was here. We had dinner, hung out and watched some TV, and then left at midnight to make the one hour drive to King of Prussia to see Dark Knight at the IMAX theater there. It was awesome. I loved seeing Dark Knight a second time. I know it’s been said time and again by just about anyone who has seen the movie, but Heath Ledger did a kick ass job as Joker. And Bale was pretty hot as Batman. ;) Although the raspy voice was kind of hokey…

We got home after 5am Sunday morning. That sucked. I was SO tired. I made it about halfway home before I had to pull over and ask Jason to drive the rest of the way. I just couldn’t keep my eyes open any longer. :/

Danielle and Matt left on Sunday afternoon, and after cleaning the house with Dan I ran out to get something for dinner, some cleaning stuff, and a few things with a Target gift card that Jason gave Ryan.

Monday: I did absolutely nothing. No work, and not much in the way of housework. Ryan’s therapists both came over at noon to work with Ryan, but once they left the three of us just laid around and lazed about for the afternoon.

Jason came over last night after we had dinner, and we watched TV, I did some work, they watched a movie, and then we all went to bed. Jason crashed on our couch, and Dan and I went and passed out by 4am.

I slept good today, but I still feel tired.

The three of us look completely wiped after our late night/early morning outing.

  1. I don’t know if you saw that message I left on Flickr about that gear toy? I had to get rid of it. Little fingers get caught up in the gears.

Anyhow, looks like you’ll had a great time. I love the birthday theme.

  2. Awww! I love the picture where his face has a bunch of red frosting on it. SO CUTE! I’m glad the party went well. :)

  3. I’m glad Ryan’s party was such a success! I love how you combed his hair, he looks like such a little man. I can’t believe my own little boy is going to be having a birthday in a couple of months – eek! I think I might look at the website you got Ryan’s party theme from, it looks pretty neat.

I love how you go all out for your children’s birthdays. The decorating and inviting people over. I’m glad it was such a success.

That birthday cake looks YUMMY! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a more colourful birthday cake before
Ryan looks like he was having a fantastic time, can’t believe that he’s already 2! :)

  9. Lindsey – Personally, I think the toy is a good lesson in “don’t put your fingers in there”. One of those important life-lessions that everyone needs to learn at some point or another. Besides, even if he pinches his fingers on the gears, it won’t seriously injure him.
