There are two things I’m looking for: a large external hard drive, and possibly a second laptop. I say second because my “old” laptop, the HP zd8000, is whacking out. Jason took it apart last night and cleaned out the gunk from it, but after putting it back together the right resolution was displaying, but there were horizontal red lines across the screen. Apparently these laptops are notorious for having various display issues, including pure black and pure white screens, as well as horizontal and vertical lines, and even checker patterns.
The external hard drive is a definite must-have purchase, because I ran out of room on my desktop’s secondary hard drive, and I’m quickly using up space on the first hard drive. The second laptop would be for Dan, and I’d only purchase that if I can’t fix the zd8000.
Jason told me to check out buy.com and look at their sale stuff, that I might be able to find a really good deal on a refurbished laptop. If I were to get another laptop, I’d definitely look for another HP, even if it’s a refurb. For an external hard drive, I like the specs and the price of the Western Digital 1TB external hard drive. Although the WD 2TB external hard drive might be worth the splurge.
See, that’s the bad thing with shooting photos in RAW format… you have so much more control over the colors, temperatures, exposure, etc., of each photo, but the file size per photo jumps from 1mb-3mb to 8mb-11mb. But it’s worth it, because I no longer have to trash a photo because I can’t do anything with it. By shooting in RAW, I can salvage many photos!
