Theraflu with a side of Nyquil

The first cold of the season has reared its ugly head. For a few days I have been putting up with an annoying itch/tenderness in my throat. Around 10pm on Wednesday evening I was feeling woozy, dizzy, sluggish and achy. This morning I woke up coughing, sneezing, congested, stuffy… the works.

But like I mentioned on Twitter, parenthood doesn’t stop just because you’re sick! Dan let me sleep in, but then we packed up Alyssa and Ryan and went to the park. Today was beautiful! Temps in the 60s, sunshine, light breeze… I’d definitely say that fall is here!

So, the kids romped around, Dan and I took turns chasing after Ryan, Alyssa tried out another little girl’s scooter (and is now begging for one of her own), and right as we were getting ready to leave my dad called. I haven’t heard from him since February, and that’s not from lack of trying on my part. But, that’s how he is… mental illness doesn’t care that it’s severing most ties between a father and daughter. It strikes and severs and takes without qualm. :(

Dan and I did salvage our evening. Jason came and babysat, and Dan took me out to a nice restaurant. I had the most delicious $7 nachos ever! Honestly, I was more impressed with the nachos than the steak that I had. Dan was all about the lager, lol.

Ugh. I have probably $900 worth of work sitting in my inbox, and I can’t be assed to do any of it. It’s 2am, and I’ve spent all evening with the kids, and working on jenn.nu’s new fall layout (which is up!) here and there. I swear, I’ll throw myself into the work wholeheartedly tomorrow evening, but for now, I think I’m going to call it a night…

Glad you were able to take the kids to the park! I hope you feel better soon…

Parks are always fun. I wish we had decent ones here, but we either lack the equipment or it’s in a terrible neighborhood. The only real decent park I have been to of course is much out of our way. It has two swimming pools and a little carnival section which is opened up during every season except Winter! I just don’t know if they expanded on their regular park equipment.

It’s nice that you and Dan had a wonderful time. You definitely deserve it, with all the hard work you do.

Is it just me or is Ryan looking more like Dan as he ages?

The new layout is GORGEOUS! *huggles it* I’m so jealous of your skills, seriously. I’m trying to figure out how to do/code my own WP themes, but it’s a long process for me, haha.

I’m glad you guys were able to salvage your evening and I hope you feel better soon! :)

Those are some adorable pictures of the park! It really looked like a beautiful day! I’m glad you and Dan were able to have some nice time to yourself. You deserve it.

I love the new themes, but the sidebar wont load for me until I click ‘comment’, then it slowly moves down below the Submit Comment button when it’s fully loaded. Could just be my crappy computer though. (I am using firefox)

Anyway, those photos are just too cute. We are havign ncie weather here as well. Im glad you were able to salvage your anniversary!

P.S: I wish I could make that kind of money online. heh.
