I know it’s almost a week later, but I really, REALLY wanted to blog about our day at the Ren Faire last Sunday! To put it mildly, we had a great time. We had last gone in October of 2006, when Ryan was just two and a half months old. Since I was breastfeeding, we took him along. It was easy having him along, since the sling made toting him, a spare change of clothes and a few tiny diapers pretty much hands-free. 
This year we went by ourselves. I know Alyssa would have had a great time with the various activities and Halloween things they had planned for children, but Dan and I desperately needed some time to ourselves.
After a brief stop for eye drops, we got to the Ren Faire, got parked, paid for our tickets and were in and on our way shortly after 12pm. We browsed through a lot of shops, bought a few items (a necklace for me, a necklace for my mother, a fancy hair comb for Alyssa, a dragon hat for Ryan, browsed for some items for Dan), watched several shows, enjoyed some gypsy singing and dancing, and just walked around enjoying the brisk fall day and all of the great sights.
The evening ended with a jousting match, which was really cool. We missed the joust show the last time we were there, so we made sure to make this one! It got really cold after the sun went down, so Dan and I huddled together and enjoyed some steaming hot cocoa.
