Two or three nights in a row I managed to get myself into bed relatively early. For me, before 2am is relatively early. But then I started reading Stephenie Meyer’s “The Host”. And now I’m up late doing work that I didn’t get to on Saturday, because of the bonfire we went to, or on Sunday, because my mom and I, along with Alyssa, Leah and my mom’s cat Merlin, went to go visit with my thirteen year old brother.
I’m destined to be a night owl, or so it seems. God help me when it’s time to get everything turned around for school schedules…
The bonfire was awesome. The turnout wasn’t as big as last year, because it was raining. But between the huge shed/miniature barn Dan’s aunt and uncle have, a large canopy/tent covering, and the roaring fire itself, those of us who did go (I’d say fifty or so in all) managed to stay pretty dry until the rain quit for good around 9pm.
Alyssa had a blast. She couldn’t wait to get into her witch costume, and to show it off to anyone who talked to her. She bounced around all over the place with a few other little kids. We mainly kept tabs on her using several of those glow-in-the-dark necklaces that were around her neck and around the base of her witch hat. And of course, by following her around, calling for her, and taking turns going after her when she bobbed out of sight.
I’m really glad that we didn’t take Ryan. He just wouldn’t have been able to handle all of the noise, commotion, visual stimulation (to say that Dan’s aunt and uncle went all out with Halloween decorations is quite the understatement!) and freedom to roam about. He was much happier at home with a babysitter.
Sunday flew by really quick. One moment I’m getting up and throwing clothes on, next thing I know Dan is coming home from work and I’m turning off The Tudors (second season, two episodes in. Whoo!). And here I am, 3am, and I still have 2000 words ahead of me before I can call it a night. *cry*

Dan’s family seems really awesome. I don’t know anyone who has Halloween parties anymore or I’d gladly go. I’ve been to like one bonfire in my life and it was awesome.
The pumpkin is, awesome!!!!!
heh, just home school the both of them so you can keep your same schedule
If I had had school aged kids and living in one county where we resided by now, we would have either home schooled or signed them up for private school. that entire county lost their accreditation which is SAD. the county we now live in has some nice schools and their building a really nice christian academy just down the road from us that i have my eyes set on.
