Last month I lost my PayPal debit card. Dan didn’t want to hear that I was running on autopilot, not getting enough sleep, had a lot of work on my plate, and was very stressed out over various issues, the one big one being both of my brothers being taken by Children & Youth. All he knew was that I was careless, reckless, irresponsible, lax in my duties, how dare I risk our money and cause so much inconvenience to our family, etc. The list went on and on and on. I heard about it for WEEKS.

(It turns out I had left the card in our bathroom, tucked between a box of baby wipes and a box of facial cleansing wipes. I found the card two days after requesting a new one, so obviously it was canceled and thus useless.)

Guess who lost my new PayPal debit card last night. You know, the replacement card that I’ve only had for three weeks. Yeah… the very same person that blasted me for misplacing mine. The very same person who doesn’t have half of the worries and things to think about and take care of that I do.

Last night I was amused, especially since Daniel was chewing himself out so much that I didn’t need to waste any breath to do it myself. But that was when we assumed that the card had been left behind at Toys ‘r Us, which is where Daniel had used it to pay for our purchases while I was changing Ryan’s diaper (looking back on it, I should have just insisted he do the dreaded diaper duty while I checked out!). But I called this morning, and they don’t have it. Nor does the mall — where we met up with Jason and Alyssa (Jason took Alyssa to Build-a-Bear for her birthday) and didn’t do any shopping, but did stop to use the family restroom. And Applebees, where we went for dinner together and discovered the card missing (good thing we had enough cash on us to cover our portion of the bill!), doesn’t have it either.

So now I’m pissed. And worried. It’s a payday week for Dan, but part of the money that’s in the account is for bills, not the food and gas and baby clothes other non-bill items I use my PayPal card to purchase. And will PayPal issue yet ANOTHER replacement card so soon after replacing the last card?

Hmmmm, I don’t know if PayPal limits how often you can request replacement cards. I’ve only had to do it once (because it never arrived). But go figure – it’s always the one who screams and rants about something happening when you do it who does it next time.

I’m forever leaving my card in the card reader in work (the only place I use it), you’d think I’d learn. I suppose it’s a good job that it’s in work I leave it though.

I don’t see why PayPal wouldn’t replace it again so soon, they’ll probably just ask more security questions?

  4. You should phone and have that card cancled. It is a debit card. I do that when I lose my bank issued debit card, so then there is a type of “freeze” on the account on any card use…. That and I also report it lost/stolen as those are two different things.

At least it was not a credit card as that would be awful.

I’ve had to get debit cards replaced days after getting a relplacement (I would go up camping to a cabin and just left it on the kitchen table) … I am proud to say that i have been using the same debit card for years now, as I use to get a replacemenet every few months. (eek)
