Those three words sum up my weekend pretty well! But backtracking to Friday… Halloween was quite fun. My mom came over and dressed up as a witch, and the five of us headed out to start Trick-or-Treat at 6pm exactly. (I still find this whole scheduled Trick-or-Treat to be so weird. When I was a kid and even as a teen there was no set time. It was just whenever it was dusk until the last person stopped handing out candy. Most years we were out until at least 9pm, and in 1997 we didn’t finish until almost midnight!) Ryan walked almost the whole time, which was rather impressive, because we went a good distance. Alyssa moaned and groaned about her Hello Kitty pumpkin being too heavy, but I told her that if she wanted the candy she had to carry it. ;) Kidding. I teased her, but I did let her sit in the stroller (I brought it along to hold our coats, my camera and kids if they happened to get tired and want a break from walking) towards the end of Trick-or-Treat.
Alyssa’s party (I already blogged about that) was a lot of fun. Preparing was exhausting, cleaning up not so much since my mom took care of a lot of it while Dan and I were outside with Alyssa and her new bike, and her plastic diamond rings and other pretend jewelry. I took over two hundred and fifty photos, and now I need to get on the task of sending out thank you cards.
Danielle and Matt came up for Alyssa’s birthday party. They arrived right around 1:30pm on Saturday, and stayed until noon on Sunday. After the party, we waited for Jason to come over, and then the four of us went out for dinner. Our first choice was Olive Garden, but we weren’t too keen on a 90 minute wait for a table, and opted for Applebee’s instead. After dinner, we went bowling. I suck at bowling, but I managed to hold my own. A bunch of gutter balls, but I counteracted that with two strikes and then a nine in the tenth frame of our second game.
On Sunday morning I made a big breakfast for the six of us, and then Danielle and Matt had to leave. I shamelessly admit that after several days of running around and several nights of not nearly enough sleep, I crashed… a “nap” turned into almost four hours of solid sleep.
Sunday night… we settled back into our near weekly tradition of meeting up with Dan’s brother at a bar. We stayed long enough for dinner, two gummi bears for me, a drink or two for Dan, his brother and Jason, and then a round of shots. After that we went to Dan’s brother’s apartment. Dear god… two drinks and a shot had my head and the world spinning for several hours. I was also laughing at the craziest, most inane crap. Then again, so was Dan’s brother and Jason, who were both smashed, and Dan’s other brother, who wasn’t drinking but was laughing his ass off at how we were all acting. Um… I tossed a full container of mesquite seasoning out the kitchen window to keep Dan’s brother and Jason from getting it and eating it. At the time I swore I didn’t do it because I was drunk, but looking back on it… yeah, totally drunk move. Oh, and then there was the 1am run for 80 Chicken McNuggets (the boys were quite hungry; I had six nuggets, if that!)… And the nasty “ass drink” Dan’s brother made me. Ginseng tea, vodka and Propel. Yes, Propel. The sweet ass drink was a slightly improved version.
Psst… you should never Twitter while under the influence!
And… that was my weekend!
How was yours?

What is it with alcohol-related munchies and chicken mcnuggets? That was always our favorite too, back in the day lol
I so do not miss the whiney days of tired feet and heavy pumpkins on Halloween! My youngest is 10, and is thankfully past those types of complaints.
Alyssa and Ryan look adorable in their costumes!

My son complained of his bag being too heavy, too. I told him something to the effect (jokingly) – You want to eat all of that candy? Work those muscles, kiddo!
His bag wasn’t really that heavy at all but I did end up holding it (and his fire fighter helmet) for the last couple of houses.
Later that night when I went through all of their candy, I noticed a trend – my son picked out mostly candy stuff like Sweet Tarts, Blow Pops, etc. while my daughter – in true female tradition, went for all of the chocolate – Milky Way, Snickers, etc.
That’s a girl, you know what mommy likes ;-)
Alyssa is so adorable! I’m completely jealous of the Hello Kitty pumpkin and birthday party. Haha. I’m 20 years old and still obsessed with Hello Kitty stuff so look out!
