What do I want for Christmas? Unfortunately, my tastes run rather high — iPod Touch, new cell phone (I do like the Wing, and I plan on checking out Jason’s new G1 when we gets it), lenses for my Nikon, Lensbaby, furniture, home furnishings…. So it’s much easier to point out things that I’d like for Alyssa and Ryan. Not that Alyssa needs much help. Every toy commercial she sees, I get, “Mommy, I want that!” or, “Mommy, Toys ‘r Us has that. Let’s go buy that!”
My preference for kids toys is anything that requires interaction and imagination. I hate the toys that do most of the playing FOR the child, and I’m not fond of electronic toys. A quick look into Alyssa’s toy bins or Ryan’s toy bins will show you that. You’ll see blocks, dolls, cars, plush toys, “themed” sets for playing and plenty of crayons and paper, but not much in the way of toys that require batteries.
MEGA Brands toy sets seem promising. They encourage imaginative play for children of a variety of ages. I think we have some MEGA Bloks already. We don’t have the catapillar play set or anything extravagant, but we have plenty of blocks, and I think we have a dump truck and a few Blok people that snap right on top of the blacks for easy integrated play.

I bought one of the new babies in my family a walker stroller. It’s supposed to help her learn to walk, and it’s a stroller so she’ll still be able to use it in the years to come. It also has some things where you turn it and it makes noise and colors, and a button to play lullabyes.
I don’t even know how to shop for kids anymore. All mine ever want are video games and Nerf guns.
I’m not going to be getting anything for Christmas, but E-Starr just got a new fancy computer. Actually, it just shipped last night. I’m kind of excited about that.

Man, our Christmas lists are pretty identical. I have issues with naming less expensive things as well.

Haha, my wish list included new dishes, silverware, a vaccum with attachments, and new cookware. Don’t you love being a grownup?
Btw, my iPod Touch is hands down my most used gadget (aside from my computers) – I totally recommend it. The App store is awesome, and aside from games I’ve got a recipe app, a paypal app, and wordpress app, twitter, and tons more of really useful things. It’s awesome.

Ahhh, it’s so tough to be a girl with expensive tastes! But I’m so much like you… I would really like to get a new computer (I’m saving up for one right now!) and a Blackberry. I would also like to get a nicer camera (I’m looking at a Sony Alpha, though I’ve also heard that the Canon Rebel and Nikon 40D are nice), though that’s lower on the priority list right now. I don’t expect to get any of these items for Christmas- though, like I said, I am saving up for a new computer and will probably buy myself a Blackberry later this month. So does that count?
