I just registered an account with Acobay. It’s a social networking website, though it has a more specific purpose than the general social networking “giants” like Facebook and MySpace. While those sites are all about networking with other people for personal and business reasons, Acobay is a consumer network, where you can share the stuff you own and the places you’ve been.
Signing up was easy, though I don’t like having to specify my specific state AND city. I’m hoping that there is a privacy setting where I can hide that from the general public, and even registered members. Also, I’m 99% certain that I typed my username in as kiss-my-kitty, but my registered username is showing as kiss-my-kittyK. What’s up with that?
For a geeky girl like myself, the idea of having a site to share gadgets and electronics is very appealing. I’m going to add in my cell phone (T-Mobile Dash), digital cameras (Nikon D40x, HP PhotoSmart R967), GPS (Garmin nuvi 200W), mp3 player (Apple iPod 30gb video) and computers (HP a867c desktop, HP Pavilion dv5 series). Once added to my profile, I can list my reviews of them, and link to others who have the same products added to their profiles.
I just added the Nikon D40x to my profile. One thing I’m not too keen on is that I have to specify the price of the item, and I need to add my own photo of it. I think that for a more uniform and consistent look, Acobay should supply the prices and stock photos of items. But, the site is new, and I’m sure they’ll be making tweaks and upgrades as they go along.
I think I’ll stick with the site. I’ll add the rest of my electronics, and then browse around to see who else is on Acobay that shares similar interests.

Interesting! I agree that they should specify the price and photo of the item, although as a *side* feature, people could opt to upload their own photos of the product (stock photos sometimes lie!) and list what they paid, like if it was on sale or they got a discount or ripped off or something.
That’s pretty neat. I think I will have to check this out as I love to review things. I used to be active on Yelp! where you review restaurants when Josh and I used to dine out more.

I am starting to love myjokecafe above sites like Myspace and Facebook and it’s all because of the Jokerinos that they offer. I am going to check out Acobay though.

As the domain name suggests, my name is Jenn, and I own this blog. I'm 26 years old and married to my one true ♥, Daniel. And while I have two kids (Alyssa is five, and Ryan is three), you won't find "mommy" in my username or email address, nor does my blog revolve around them. I'm a mother, but most importantly I am me, with a passion for love, blogging, reading, and photography. I'm also a busy freelance writer, web designer & SEO goddess.

Thanks for sharing, Jenn. I might end up registering an account to give it a try. I definitely agree with you that they should have stock photos of items handy instead of having to do it yourself.
