I’m back in my contacts. I was able to get an appointment for this afternoon, and they had plenty of contacts in stock, so I was sent home with the industry-standard “trial” pair. Fine with me. For $95, I should get more than air blown into my eyes (god I hate that!), letter charts (with numbers thrown in to trip you up) and a trial-sized bottle of storage solution.
This is me doing a happy dance.
Totally unrelated to contacts… does anyone know of a WordPress plugin that will enable protected entries that are viewable only by approved registered users, but are still displayed (with some kind of “you can’t read this, nyah nyah nyah” message instead of the content)? The plugin I’m using right now, ViewLevel 2, completely removes protected entries from being viewed or accessed by non-approved users. Not that it’s a bad thing, but the permalinks to these protected entries throw up 404′s to non-approved users, so I get a lot of IMs/emails/direct messages on Twitter about missing entries (which aren’t really missing).
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

I love my contacts. Contacts > glasses any day of the year, except for when you’re sick. I find that I’m much more comfortable without my contacts in if I have a cold/flu. That’s probably just because I’m lazy as hell when I’m sick and contacts are 10x the amount of work. :grumpy:
I love my contacts! :D However since getting new glasses back in May, I’ve been mixing it up more, though, which has definitely been better on my eyes ^^
I once used a plugin called Category Access. Not sure if it does everything you want but might be worth checking out.

I took your advice and lowered my categories down to 12. Sadly, I’m not sure I can get it any lower than that.

I recently got contacts again too. I love having the option although I’ve become quite fond of my glasses.

RE: Your plugin question, I use the “Hide/Cut Post Text” Plugin by Scott Reilly to hide posts from ‘Subscribers’, but that are visible to ‘Contributors’. (I’ve got it set up so that non-registered and ‘Subscriber’ users just see a message.. e.g: http://claire.nu/2008/10/14/the-bit-where-lifes-stranger-than-fiction-private/ )

I can’t wear contacts, but I don’t think that I’d want them. I love my glasses too much.
$95 though? That’s why I’m glad we have a national health services over here. All eye exams are free in Scotland.

I’m nearsighted, so I have glasses to see far away. I’d rather have contacts, but since I only need glasses to see far away, my parents don’t see a point in getting contacts. I guess in a way I agree, but… I’d still like contacts.
Man, I miss having contacts. I suppose after we sort out all of our medical bills and what not I’ll have to schedule an appointment to get an exam so that I can get them back!

Your entry makes me grateful for 20/20 vision.
I also suggest the Hide/Cut Post Text plugin. That’s what I use. Although I never tried the hide feature….
We can haz update prz? kthxbi
i’m jealous actually lol. i always get contacts stuck and can’t get them out on my own so it is not really an option for me. they keep telling me to practice but i almost always end up with a face full of tears some forty five minutes later

4 days and no update – so unlike you.
Everything okay?
I am definitely with Arwen, I am grateful for my 20/20 vision! ;) My mom goes through the same thing you do but sadly, they never have her type of contacts in stock. Yay for trial pairs though!
