The mandatory blog entry

So, it has been almost a week since my last blog entry. Sorry guys. Nothing monumental has happened, but I was really sick (fevers, body aches, severe head pressure, nasal congestion, goopy eyes, coughing, sneezing, sore, swollen throat, etc.), so anything beyond being conscious, breathing and functioning just enough to qualify as a parent was a bit of a stretch. :/ I just started to feel better yesterday, though I’m still coughing and hacking left and right.

I have been quite busy with work, too. I’ve had a lot of writing projects dumped on me, and yeah, the timing was kind of bad, but hey, it’s decent money, so I’ve been chugging away at them, doing my best to knock out 8,000 words worth each day.

I saw my thirteen year old brother on Saturday, and I would have gone to see my ten year old brother on Sunday, but I was really sick (I think Saturday and Sunday were my sickest days), so I called my mom and told her to go without me. She didn’t, of course, but that’s nothing new. :grumpy:

We had Ryan’s yearly evaluation on Monday. It went well. He is still in desperate need of services, of course. The only change is that when Ryan turns three (three? God, time is flying), he’ll no longer receive services from the state agency that covers babies and toddlers, but instead from another state agency that oversees special-needs children ages three and up. This one obviously has more focus on education, and there’s a specialty preschool program that Ryan qualifies for. It will be interesting to see how he does with that.

Yesterday, I went to Philadelphia. I haven’t seen my dad in almost a year, and I knew Alyssa would enjoy coming out with me for the day. While in Philly, I stopped by a T-Mobile store, and wound up getting the T-Mobile G1… in white! Apparently these suckers are hard to come by in white. I actually had to go to three different stores before I found one. I know, I know, Google sucks and all that, they bring Big Brother to mind, but damn the phone is sexy. And quick. And responsive. And the apps! So. Many. Apps. *spasm*

Today… I didn’t do much of anything. We got home late last night, thanks to a certain stupid Jenn not checking the weather reports. I thought the snow was supposed to start in Philadelphia around 8pm. Well, when we left at 10pm, it had just started, so I didn’t think too much of it… until we got about ten miles out of the city and ran into SNOW EVERYWHERE. Even with following a plow truck halfway home, the normal hour and fifteen or so minute drive took us close to two and a half.

All right, there’s the mandatory blog entry, for now. I have a writing project I need to get started on!

T-Mobile needs to die. No, really. I hate T-Mobile. Why? Because I desperately want to use their services, and they won’t let me, because there’s no service tower nearby. Stupid tiny town! Why won’t stupid T-Mobile just take the money I am so readily willing to toss at them? *cries*

Ack I just wrote a huge comment and something failed. Here we go again…

Sorry to hear that you’ve been sick. It’s never nice being sick, at all. Blah.

I look forward to hearing how Ryan goes with his early education. Not to try to tell you how to parent, because I sure am not a parent and haven’t had that experience, but have you tried Ryan on different diets? I saw Jenna McCarthy on Oprah the other day and she was talking about her son who is autistic, and she put him on a special diet, via which he was almost cured. Just a thought – might be something to look into :)

Let us know how the G1 goes – I’ve seen pictures and heard about it before, but I’m a little iffy on it – seems kind of chunky. Anyway, I’m sure its great but I’d love to hear more about it.

Let’s hope this comment doesn’t go missing either!

Awwh, sorry you’ve been so sick. I felt like crap myself yesterday. I came home and went straight to bed. I ended up sleeping from 5pm till 5:30 this morning.
That is one sexy phone mama! How come they don’t have sexy phones like that around here (north of the border)?! I just got a new phone the LG VU. It’s a touch screen so I thought it would be really cool, but #1 it won’t let me just set everything to vibrate – the stupid thing wants to ring and #2 because it’s touch, when I’m texting sometimes I hit the wrong letter and make a mess out of what I’m trying to spell. Aggravating!
    Hope you’re feeling all better.
