Bitch logic

Earlier tonight (much earlier!) Alyssa was browsing through my iTunes playlist. I didn’t know she knew how to pull up iTunes and play music, yet there she was, flipping through the album artwork like it’s the norm. So she flips through and finds Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” (which, if you didn’t already know, is one of her favorite songs), puts it on and starts singing along. Dan and I are pretty amused, as she’s hitting all the words.
Right as I’m wondering if the song is the censored or uncensored version, Alyssa sings the line I was thinking of, and my internal question is answered: “like a bitch, I would know”. Dan looks at me with his eyebrows raised, and I shrug.
Alyssa catches our little wordless exchange, and says, “I said bitch”.
Me: I know. That’s a bad word…
Alyssa: I know! But it’s just a song. So it’s okay.

Ah, the logic of a four year old. Looks like I need to take a run through my playlist and swap out some of the uncensored versions for their kid-friendly alternatives. Or, make a separate playlist for Alyssa. Since I have over 2,000 songs, that would probably be the easier solution…

Not much has been happening lately. My mom has requested that I not talk about her on my blog. She got pretty butthurt over some of the things I said about her, and over some of the comments left on posts regarding her. Well, I’m not sorry for saying what I did, and I stand by what I said. I’m not one to sugarcoat things or ignore the glaring truths. But, I will respect her privacy, and keep future posts about her behind closed e-doors (hello protected posts).
But I have to admit, a very small part of me wants to rub it in her face and ask her how it feels. You see, going back to when I was a child she would wait until after I had went to bed or to my room for a bit, and would then take the opportunity to talk negatively about me to my grandparents. I have very vivid memories of her bashing me to my grandparents, while I sat in my room crying, refusing to go out and confront her, though I should have. I just didn’t want to make things worse, you know? Meh, sometimes it’s hard to be the adult.

I have a lot of blogging to catch up on. I have a new blog theme I want to get together and put up, and I have a few protected-entries plugins to tinker with. But being sick last week put me behind on my work, so now I’ve been frantically playing catch-up. There IS light at the end of the tunnel. I’m getting there, slowly but surely. Just two more projects to get out of the way, and I’ll be back on track with this month’s projects (all 30ish of them, lol). I usually do just one a day, but to catch up I’ve been doing two, sometimes three. The writing takes a lot out of me, in terms of time and energy, which is why I have been slacking on blogging and neglecting Lavish and Photography Girls.

One thing I have been making some time for lately, besides Dan, Alyssa and Ryan (please note that when I talk about free time/making time for things, I’m talking about the time left over after family, domestic duties and work — in that order), is my new cell phone. As much as I like to liken Google to Big Brother, I’m really head over heels in love/lust with the T-Mobile G1. It really is a sweet ass phone. The battery life may not be superb, the Sidekick-style body makes it hard to hold/type with one hand (something I loved about the Dash), and the contrast on the keyboard could be a bit better, but the apps… the performance… oh such a sweet, sweet phone.

So sweet, in fact, that Dan decided he wanted one after playing with mine for an hour or so.

His & Hers (by Jenn ?)

What can I say? We have this thing for his & her phones.

(It was so funny when I went to get a G1 for Dan. The sales rep was shocked that I had a white one. He was all, “I thought they were on backorder for like three months???” And I was all, “Yeah, I just had to run to Philly and call around and visit three different stores, BUT I GOT ONE. HAH!”.

What wasn’t so funny was the insta-fit Ryan pitched when we went inside the store. He was not happy about the noise, the people, the atmosphere of the store… I don’t know what it was, but he cried and howled and bucked the entire time I was there. The guy was as quick as he could be with getting the phone and getting the account and such set up for it, but he was on hold for at least five minutes when he called in to get the data plan changed. I got several dirty looks, but I ignored them and focused on getting Ryan calmed down.)

By the way, Happy Superbowl Sunday everyone! I’m looking forward to it, but only because Dan is coming home from work around 5ish, grabbing Lissy and going to his brothers’ apartment for the evening. He probably won’t be back until midnight or later. Fine by me! Bean and I can hang out together, and Alyssa can suck up all the attention from her daddy and two uncles. I plan on dressing her in a white turtleneck, Steelers t-shirt, and putting her hair in yellow & black banded pigtails. I want to do black and yellow stripes on her face, but I’m pretty sure that even though I have at least one hundred different eye shadow colors, none of them are yellow. I’ll have to improvise. Will gold work?

P.S. Happy February! I got Dan this month. I recorded a .wav file of myself saying, “Happy February sweetie! I love you!” and stuck it on my phone and set it as the alarm for midnight. It was all too easy to leave the phone on the coffee table and wait for it to go off.

P.P.S. Both T-Mobile Dash cell phones have been sold. I think. One is a definite (paid for), the other not so sure.

lol…that’s cute that she knows the words, but I can understand not wanting her to know certain versions of songs. I guess if I have kids one day, I’ll have to go through iTunes and get friendlier versions of songs.

I can understand your mom getting upset because I’ve had family members get pissed about my blog entries before. I can also understand how you want to keep your blog as your blog, uncensored and everything. I think that it’s great that you can still rant, but do it in protected posts, because it’s unfair to take that away from someone completely. If you were unable to rant, then the anger that you feel as it is would build and build, then you might snap on her personally one day. That would be worse than rants on a blog. Since you have the opportunity to take your issues to the protected posts, maybe it won’t resort to that.

  2. That is cute how she said that. I’d probably laugh at her logic, although it’s not the best thing to do. I could imagine it though.

If your mom wants to keep things off your blog, eh, so be it. That is why you have registration and protected posts, like you mentioned. It is afterall, YOUR blog. I worry sometimes about mine b/c my sister reads so I need to watch what I say on it.

  3. Wesley usually gets mad whenever I write about him too. I can see how they might not want things written about them on a public domain. However, freedom of speech allows you to say what you please so long as it is not a lie. Well, I’ve never lied. So to me, it’s okay to write about people. If they get mad, so be it.

I can relate with what you said about your mom talking negatively about you. When I was younger, my mom used to do the same thing with her co-workers. She would tell them bad things about me, often exaggerations, which led them to dislike me. They thought it was wrong of me to depend on my mom for practically everything. Well, I was only a young teenager then. Plus, I have never known how to do laundry or anything because I’ve never been taught. How is that my fault?

  4. As for apps – are you talking about ones which come on the phone? Or are you able to download them from someplace? T-Mobile’s app support for most phones is fucking horrible. Yes, I used a bad word ;)

    “like a bitch, I would know” is from the song Hot n’ Cold… Not I Kissed a Girl… ;)
