Stupid me forgot that it was Presidents Day AND a make-up day for the younger class that is held at Alyssa’s preschool. So not only did I get up early (although I did go to bed early — by 1:00am — so that wasn’t too bad), but I also got Alyssa up and dressed and all excited for preschool. When the teacher informed her that there was no school today, her face completely crumpled. She started crying when we got to the front door of the school. Ugh, I feel terrible. I did manage to cheer her up with a promise of playing Little Big Planet as soon as we got home, and maybe going out this evening for a hair cut, but still… I hate seeing her cry, especially when it’s my fault!
But I guess I should try to look at this positively: at least I’m able to stick to getting up early for her, and at least she’s excited about school! I can rub that in her face later, when she’s whining and moaning about not wanting to go to school.
The weekend was pretty quiet, which was nice. We did wind up going out for Valentine’s Day after all, thanks to Jason and his awesome babysitting skills. We chose Nifty Fifty’s, simply because we’ve been craving their food since we tried to go there last Thursday night but didn’t get there before they closed. Very casual, I know, but still fun, and very delicious!
I don’t have much planned for this week. I have a little project I’m working on, some plug-ins to fiddle with on jenn.nu, a protected entry to get up (relating to a certain issue: my frustration level is through the roof, I swear I’m going to explode one of these days), and, of course, work to do.
And then Friday our tax return is supposed to hit. Plus it’s payday for Dan, and I’ll have built up a week’s worth of payments for writing work. Yay! We’re not doing any kind of crazy splurging with the money, but taking care of some financial matters and everyday bills is always a good thing to be excited about.

Aww. Poor Alyssa! But I’m glad you came up with some fun things to do for when you got home, and hopefully she’s having fun playing Little Big Planet.
Gah, I’m still waiting for all my tax info to do my returns. Doesn’t help my accountant has to deal with small business stuff.
Aw, poor Alyssa. She was so excited! That’s okay, I completely forgot yesterday was President’s Day as well.
Aww, everyone makes mistakes like that once in a while. I bet it was upsetting at the time, but I’m sure Alyssa had a nice day anyway.

Lol oh dear at going to school when there is no school! I would have felt really bad too!
