Our tax return hit on Friday morning. Having a four digit balance in our savings account was enough to keep me running on four and a half hours asleep all day and all night. I paid bills, picked up a year’s supply of contact lenses (yay!), went shopping with the kids for new shoes and socks (they somehow outgrew their current shoes and socks around the same time, and they’re both now wearing a size 10!), went home, took care of a few more things, then picked up Dan from work. We went to the mall (lotion for me, new work shoes for him), and then to Chili’s for dinner (Ryan was amazingly well behaved!), and then picked up a few groceries, and then dragged our asses home and put the kids to bed, and then crashed ourselves.
Whew.
I’m happy to say that we didn’t go crazy with the bit of splurge spending that we did. Nothing crazy like barcode scanners! Instead, the new shoes and socks for the kids, new shirts for them, a pair of pants for Alyssa and some hair clips for her new hair style, and a few other odds and ends.
So, did everyone have a good weekend?
P.S. We’re not really broke, but might as well be, seeing what our account is compared to what it was, heh.

I always feel broke after having a nice balance and then seeing it drop. My acct was over $1,000 and it’s steady at about $750 or so and I’m like… I feel broke.
I think it’s my way of trying to avoid spending more on baby x.
It really sucks how quickly money can be spent. We just sold the truck James received from his father (since it was never used), and the money was gone just a week later. Being an adult is getting old!
I’m a bit like that when my wages hit my account. I’m always in awe that I have over £1000 in my bank account, then as soon as direct debits start coming off for bills I feel like I’m broke, even with £500 still in there.
Ah well. Looks like your tax return was well spent
I always feel broke hun.. well done on paying all the bills!
OH HEY, we have a barcode reader! XD It’s useful with my dyscalculate brain and Jani’s lack of concentration, but I’d assume normal people would have absolutely no use for it.
Damn, I’d like to see my account with over 500€ at least once more in my lifetime. Disability funds really suck.
I wish I could work so I’d get a tax return this year.
I did the same thing! I got a check for editing a music video and went straight out to buy a year’s worth of contacts with it.
I’m the same-when the money hits the account I have £££££ in my eyes, then you remember that sky mone has to come out, then the broadband, then the phone etc etc and you are left with virtually nothing.
when you can’t spend any money on toys then you are broke! hehe
Thank goodness for tax returns! I can’t wait to get mine back, then I can get some much needed new clothes. My winter coat is completely falling apart and I just haven’t had the money to replace it. Only problem will be finding one by the time the money comes in.
I’ve been sick all weekend, but my tax return hit today so I definitely couldn’t let that stop me from blowing some cash.
