Spring has sprung

Spring is my least favorite season of the year. Summer comes in at a close second, simply because I hate the heat, and I never did like to sweat. But at least summer is predictable. With spring, you never know what to expect. Hot, cold, rain, sunshine, clouds… we get it all. Last Friday it was cloudy, last Saturday was very sunny but incredibly windy, which made the temps seem a lot lower than they really were, and then on Sunday it was just kind of warm and humid. Then it rained earlier this week, and was rather cold. Now today we’re back to sunshine, and tomorrow back to clouds and rain…

Today was great for going out, so out I went, with Leah as my only companion. It’s nice to get out without Alyssa and Ryan. It doesn’t happen much, so when it does I really do treasure it. It’s so nice to not have to stash an extra diaper in my purse, make the extra bathroom trips for Alyssa, deal with the pain of two car seats and dragging heavy kids in and out of the car, dealing with Ryan if he freaks out over sitting still or not doing something in a certain order, and so on and so forth. Just like I’d like to be able to go to the Pug meet up tomorrow without the kids, but Dan is working in the morning and refuses to even try to see about going in later (from what he said to me on the phone earlier, this is because he is resentful of how “easy” I have it. At that point I pretty much hung up on him, because I was thisdamnclose to flying into a bitchy, screaming rage.), and my mom won’t watch the kids because she wants to come with me (funny how her medical order to stay out of vehicles for long distances doesn’t apply to things she wants to do).

So do I drag two kids to a dog park? It’s just going to be Pugs, and several other members have said that they bring their small children. But their small children aren’t like Ryan. Alyssa is great. Ryan? Eh. I could see it going well, going okay, or going really badly. And shrieky, squealy toddlers are not good to have around dogs.

I guess I’ll make up my mind for sure tomorrow morning. There is a chance of showers throughout the morning, so if it does rain I think that cinches it — I won’t go. Dragging myself and a dog out in the rain is one thing, bringing kids too? No. Just no.

I’ve been planning on going to this thing for over a month, told Dan about it over a month ago, and RSVPed several weeks ago. It sucks that now I most likely won’t be able to go. :(

Anyway, back to the title at hand, I took a few shots of a blooming tree earlier today, and I was surprised at how well they turned out, since I was shooting one-handed, Leah was tugging at my arm and it was rather breezy:

I know what you mean about the weather. We have such a hard time planning family activities because any time we do it ends up raining. (We are in the Pacific Northwest though, so I suppose it goes with the territory.) I usually try and look at the weather report before we plan anything but it never fails that if we do plan something it will rain and if we don’t plan anything and decide to stay home it will inevitably be great weather! Gorgeous photos! I love the second one!

  2. Go with the kids and just play it by ear. If they start to act up you can always take off early. But better to go and try than not at all I think.

The pictures are beautiful! I agree. You should take the children, they might have fun! You never know until you try.

  4. Beautiful photos! I love them! I saw them on Lavish this morning and I was like ooooooh Jenn took some new pictures!! I’m glad you were able to get out by yourself for a change. Everyone needs some time to themselves once in a while.

  6. Love the photographs! They’re beautiful. I can definitely relate to the weather bit too, the weather here is chaotic at best in the Spring.
