Procrastination station. Choo choo!

God. The hardest thing about working from home is fighting off the urge to procrastinate for as longgggggggggg as I can drag it out. I always tell myself I can do it “later”. Well, later comes, and then it’s late, and I’m tired, or Dan is about to be home, or I’m just burnt out from a long day, and the last thing I want to do is rack my brain for thousands of words on subjects that I’ve written before (though in some ways, it’s a lot easier to write about the same stuff again, because I already “know” it, and can compose the articles in my head without doing any time-consuming, distraction-inducing research).

So instead, my MO is to “reward” myself. AKA, do so many words and then I’ll buy that shirt I’ve been wanting for a few weeks. Or watch an episode of Judge Judy or Hell’s Kitchen. Or fold laundry (seriously, it’s a welcome reprieve from typing). Or mop the floor (as much as I hate mopping my floor, it’s a welcome change at times!). Yes, most of the time I reward myself with HOUSEWORK. And it works. But hey, rewarding myself with housework beats rewarding myself with a snack or cookies. Pfft. That wasn’t very conducive to watching my weight. (Speaking of which, I’m down .2 lbs. since May 1st, and Dan and I are going to the gym together tonight! Ogle time!)

Today is a slightly unproductive day, but what do you expect when it’s cold and damp and rainy? Those elements of nature practically demand a slackerlicious afternoon. Besides, I may have put off work, but instead I took care of an exploding pile of letters and papers that was slowly but surely claiming a good 1/3 of my desk area.

Well, it’s after 4pm, and I need to get changed into something more sweat-friendly than the long-sleeved black top and jeans I’m currently wearing. Have a good night everyone!

P.S. These guys? Great motivation to lose weight and be healthier.

Aww, they both look so cute after their haircuts. :) Not that they weren’t before, but you know. Even cuter now.

And as you know from Twitter, I do the rewarding thing too. Right now I’ve told myself that I can get a new movie when I finish the Norwegian part of my timeline. I wish rewarding myself with housework would work, but I think that might make me hit the books even harder. Which might not be a bad idea?

I just found my exercise motivation: my new pair of exercise tights. Eeesh. They really do show off all the areas that need work.

  2. Same for me Jenn on the motivation for exercise and healthy living.. my baby girl. For myself of course but for her so that I can run and play with her when she’s a bit older and so that I can set the example for her when she gets older so she too can have that same healthy lifestyle. Atleast that’s my hope.

Have a good time with Dan @ the gym tonight!!! Make sure to stay hydrated!

Ahh no!! Alyssa! where has your hair gone? She doesn’t look like a little girl anymore :( I had a look at your flickr pics and it is a dinky little hairdo but she looks all grown up!!
Ryan still looks like Ryan :) even at that odd angle
Lord and Lady -we are getting old – our children are turning into tweenies :/
why can’t they stay small and cutesy ? instead of big, tall ,smart and have a sassy mouth on them -or is that just my two ?

  4. Oh their haircuts look fantastic! I absolutely love them! I think it’s great to motivate yourself with fun rewards like that. I try and do the same thing with my weight loss.

  5. I prefer Alyssa’s hair longer, not that it looks bad now or anything. I really love Ryan’s haircut though. He looks so cute.

@Tehya haha, you’re spot on there. Even RYAN is starting to get a little sassy. Personally, I think they spend too much time with Jenn :D
