Short version:
The staff members at my brother’s school say one thing and do another, we make the hour drive to his school for nothing, kids are upset, scrounge up change for dinner because of my PayPal situation.
Long version:
A nearly six minute minute video. Yes! A video. I’m really shy about being “live” online, which is why I rarely do videos. I am trying to come out of my shell, though, so please be nice. ;) I know I talk fast… and with my hands!

Generally the term ‘cookout’ refers to an open group gathering. That really sucks that they told you something other than what they were really planning to do.
Any news on when your brothers might get to come home?
Aww Jenn, you’re so cute!
I think I’ll throw a BBQ next weekend and tell everyone that there won’t be any food, no talking or socializing and definitely don’t bring your kids! Sounds like fun! lol
Adorable! Thanks for the blogging treat. I loved to listen to you. That’s totally crazy what you had to deal with today because it was a sacrifice in the first place given that you weren’t feeling well and were low on cash…. only to get f’ed over once you got there.
Excellent about how Ryan wanted to interact with the other kids. Hopefully you pulling him away from the kids because of the staff members wont discourage him playing with other kids in the future.
Oh and I love how you say “water.” I haven’t heard your accent since I was in college. Cute.
How fun! I have never heard you talk before :D You should do that more often
And, I would have been pissed if I were you, that’s just crap that they say one thing and it turns out to be another thing
What a ripoff! That is ridiculous. What idiots!
You did a great job on the video! :D Great blog Jenn!
You must do video blogging always! Ok first of all let me say that this place your brother goes sounds really out there. When you have kids that have had problems in the past interacting with other children in a great way, you do not stop that. This is only teaching everyone that there is something wrong with them, beware.
IF those workers were doing their job there would be no liability. Besides, you and your mother were there. I honestly can’t see a simple little spat amongst kids being a liability so I get the feeling they are talking about way more, which makes me wonder…why was Alyssa ever allowed with the boys? If it’s such a big deal why was she ever even allowed to the grounds? Shouldn’t they set an age limit like 13 or something if this is such an issue?
They suck, they’ve proved that. I feel sorry for Y, but I guess it is what it is for now. I hope that around the holidays this year things go way better as far as visits and things with both boys.
That is odd. I’m sure others assumed the same thing, cookout = cookout. They could have been a lot more professional than acting like “brats”. Sending out invitations that specifically stated “oh hai for the kids only” would have made it a lot more clear. The whole liability thing is just a crock, kids can still play with one another without pushing each other over or causing an sort of harm O_o Sure kids can be rough but really now, plenty of adults around!
That’s why I don’t go to stuff like that. Fear of the unknown.
Your video stops at 1:49 for me every single time. UGH. Stupid site.
There we go, it worked now. Your day sounded like crap and I can’t believe the school was like that. I bet you can’t wait to get the boys back home where they belong. Ugh. And Paypal.. don’t even get me started on them.
Wow, that was total LAME of your brothers school =(
I know i told you on twitter … but OMG I loved this post. the video thing was such a fresh idea. you go jenn!
however what that school did about your brothers cookout was CRAP…and being rude to you and especially your kids.. ugh.. you handled i t better than I would have
Love the video – the accent makes you so very charming. =)
But whoever planned and organized that event at your brother’s school sucks big time. And going on and on about liabilities and how they’re not allowed to interact? Poor Alyssa and Ryan. =(
You really should do more video blog; you have a nice voice. Keep it up!
I would be annoyed by your brothers school as well, great video
Wow thats really rude. I would write a letter to the head person in charge and express my feelings. Can you move your brother out of that school into a another school?
I love this video blog, lady. I am thinking you should do more of them!
My friends say Ishould do video blogs because I’m so fun and outgoing, but if I did them I’d be shy too. lol It’s one thing to be outgoing to your friends and another to be outgoing to people online! lol People you don’t even know who read your blog!! Weird!! I liked it though! :D :D
Yea that’s why I send my husband to all of my son’s events. If they pull shit like that he’ll crawl up their ass until they give in. xD
God bless you Jenn! Long time reader, first time commenter. I’m really young though, only 11. But I don’t act 11, so you can talk to me without feeling stupid.
you can come to my 5th grade graduation and there will be food for you!
