Alyssa and I went to the pool yesterday afternoon. It was sort of on a whim, the night before actually. Yesterday was supposed to be very sunny and about 80°, so I thought why not? Well, we got there, and suddenly the water is looking kind of cold. And it was. Heh. But once I was in and fully submerged and moving around (I did six laps across the pool, whoo!), I was okay. Alyssa came in too, though she hopped out and huddled under her towel for a bit. Then when I got out, laid out in the sun and dried off, she went back in and decided she wanted me to join her. No way! The water certainly looked good, but it was really cold! The lifeguard said it temped at 66° around noon. We were there and in around 12:30. Oh well. We had a lot of fun, so I’m glad we went. Alyssa wore her swim sweater, so she jumped right in and was happily splashing and swimming around in the deep end with me. And when another family came in (until they showed up we were the ONLY PEOPLE at the pool. It was cool to have it to ourselves!), Alyssa pounced right on the little boy that was with them, and was quite the social butterfly (or buttfly, which is how she used to pronounce butterfly).
Pictures (of course)!
Oh, and I fail at Summer Safety 101. I was so preoccupied with getting Ryan ready for his therapist (Dan stayed at home with him), picking up Alyssa from my mom’s, remember her swim sweater, bringing along cash for the pool fee and putting sunscreen on her that I forgot myself. 2.5 hours in the blazing sunshine = very bad for people with #FFF complexions:
I don’t have much planned for today, besides staying out of the sun, slathering on some more Ocean Potion sunburn relief (that stuff is the shit!), and hopefully watching more Hell’s Kitchen with Dan tonight. I’m going to be leaving soon to pick up a TV to put away for Alyssa (FreeCycle FTW!), and I’m going to stop by a local car audio/video place to see if they can set up my car with keyless entry. I have a 2002 Kia Spectra, and its locks are… weird. They’re not quite power locks, but they’re not quite 100% mechanical, either. So the tech I spoke with on the phone asked me to bring it in so they can check out the door panels and know for sure. *crosses fingers* I really hope it’ll work! Keyless entry is such a convenience that I love with the Hyundai, and I really miss it when I use my car.

haha I Like your FFF complexion remark.. thats to funny
not to many people would get that, i did!
I rarely wear sunscreen but my mother is panamanian.. so we dont typically burn.. even in all day sun. But still good to have something on!
Still looks like you had fun despite the burn
I love the pictures of the water. Those are fantastic shots! That last picture of Alyssa looks like she’s flying. It’s awesome.
I’m sorry you got so sunburned. It looked so painful! I hope it heals soon.
Awesome shots…looks like Alyssa had a lot of fun! I got over my burn already in the fake bake booth last month. I burn the first and second day, then it tans. Aloe with lidocaine works wonders!
Looks like Alyssa had a great time.
Yeah I know exactly what you mean by FFF skin type. I’ve got the same… and I’m a redhead :-o
Oh My Gosh! Only people at the pool = dream come true! Even one other family would be awesome. Sydney and I noticed that the pool was closed or maybe it was just dead when we went by yesterday? I didn’t realize it was cooler because I see to always be hot.
Anyway, where do you get your bathing suits at? I’m looking for one now and I don’t even know where to start. Nothing fits my huge rack right and stands up so I need some tips. Oh and btw your burn already looks tanner than an average crisp session. Looks good, everyone is hotter with color on them!
Looks like you guys had a good time!! I would burn just like you. Feel better soon! And remember sun tan lotion next time!
HAHAH that sucks. but that’s not as bad as when I went to the ocean a couple years ago. it was windy and the sun was behind the clouds. and i was laying on my tummy and i guess i fell asleep. when we got up to leave i was the colour of one of those red balls they have in school gyms. i couldnt sit for a week.
glad you guys had fun though
