Water babies

Alyssa is loving the diving board just as much as Ryan is loving the pool itself. The pool at the motel didn’t have one, but our local pool does. She’s gone off of it a few times before, but with some hesitation, and she always wanted us right there in the water to catch her. But since that’s something the lifeguards frown upon, we made it clear to her that if she wants to go off the diving board, she needs to do so on her own. Just as she jumps into other parts of the pool and is able to swim just fine, she’ll be able to do the same off the diving board (even though the water there is 12′ deep, while the rest of the pool only goes up to 6′!).

Well, Alyssa decided that the diving board was just too much fun to give up on, so here she is:

I lost count after 20 jumps, heh. Needless to say, she’s now having a blast with the diving board, and it’s all she’s been talking about since we came home yesterday evening.

P.S. Let it be known that I was at the end of the diving area, out of view of the camera. Dan was filming from the side of the pool. We were both well within jump-in-and-save-the-sproglet distance, if the need should have arose. Despite the opinion of some, we don’t just dump our kids in the pool and then walk away. ;)

Wow! Alyssa looks like she’s really having a blast! I’m surprised the lifeguards frown on you guys being there to catch her, but allow her to go off the diving board alone. She wouldn’t be allowed to at the local pools here. :(

  2. Aw, that is so cute! It looks like she’s just having a blast!
