I’m shaking off that fog that tends to hang around my head when I’ve taken a late afternoon nap. I didn’t mean to nap, but I broke my two week long streak of going to bed early (early = before 1am on most nights; one night as early as 11:30pm) when I went out on a midnight Denny’s run last night. But I had fun, so it was mostly worth it. And since I’ve been getting up early lately (early being before 10am ;) ), I actually woke up on my own this morning, even though I had only slept for about five hours.
I’ve got a lot of work on my plate right now, but I’m doing my best not to burn myself out. Instead of racing to get large chunks of work done in just a few days, I’m pacing myself, and just doing one writing project per day. That leaves me time to work on other work (writing, posts), and a bit of time for myself, which is something I definitely need to get in every day.
Is the summer going by quickly for anyone else? Last night I realized that Ryan’s third birthday is just three weeks away, so I hurried up and ordered party invitations (this year’s theme is Wow Wow Wubbzy), and even paid $5 extra so they’ll come sooner, so I can then turn around and get them out to everyone. I’m hoping that Danielle and Matt will be able to come up for that weekend!
Right now I’m installing Windows 7 RC on my laptop. I put it on my desktop (which I’m using right now) before we left for vacation, and have been using it almost religiously since we got back. Needless to say, I love it. It’s like Vista, but with incredible performance. It’s almost sad that Windows & RC has been performing better on a four and a half year old desktop computer than Vista has been performing on a two month old laptop!
P.S. Blog title has been inspired by a song that I am absolutely in love with. Anyone know what it is?

I’ve heard…good things about Windows 7, which surprises me because I almost believe them (and I am totally not a windows fan!).
Your blog title..it’s a vertical horizon song, isn’t it?
@Alicia: Yes! It’s Vertical Horizon’s Underwater.
You have so many online projects I don’t know how you can keep up! A blog and forums are enough for me!
As for Windows 7, I’ve heard good things, I think it would be great for my little laptop, however I’m worried about installing it… I’ve never installed anything close to an OS before and it’s my younger sister’s laptop. If it was easy and safe I would. :D When is it supposed to be released?
I wish I had that much work piled up, especially with our vacation right around the corner! It is easy to get burned out with writing though…been there, done that!
I’ve heard nothing but good things about Windows 7…Vista seems to be working okay for me though. Maybe I’ll convince James to try it out!
Yeah, I really think that summer is going WAY too fast. I am also excited to try out Windows 7. I’ve heard nothing but good thing.
Someone beat me to saying Vertical Horizon… darn
A friend of mine was asking me if I knew if Windows 7 was worth getting installed on his new laptop he’s ordering, or if he should stick to Vista. Since I don’t have much experience with Windows since XP (I’ve been on a Mac for nearly four years now, and I all but flounder in Vista, haha), do you have an opinion?
