Before we left for vacation I installed Windows 7 on my desktop. I wasn’t too concerned about losing files or running into bugs, because I kept Vista on my first hard drive and simply did a clean install of Windows 7 onto the second. I didn’t get the chance to play with it much, but once we got back from vacation and settled back into our normal routine, I was able to play around with it. I installed all of my “standard” programs (AIM, MSN, iTunes, Cute FTP Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office), hooked up all of my accessories (three printers, digital camera dock, webcam) and jumped right in.
And… I loved it. Still do, actually. I’m going to echo what others have said: Windows 7 is a lot like Vista, minus the performance issues and bugs. Plus, there are a lot of little goodies, features and options that really improve and enhance the user experience. Right off the top of my head I can think of font installation issues I’ve run into in the past. Namely, because I would back up all of my existing fonts onto CD, re-installing them onto a clean installation of an OS was a huge pain, because I’d have to wait and hit each prompt notifying me of the font already being installed (this would happen with basic fonts, like Arial, Verdana, Times New Roman, etc.). With Windows 7, once a prompt comes up, you have the option to automatically ignore feature prompts/respond to them in the same manner. Needless to say, it makes installing 700+ new fonts a lot easier. ;)
I love Windows 7 so much that I have gone ahead and installed it on my two month old laptop, and Dan had me put it in on his 2.5 month old laptop last night. Setting it up was a breeze, and the performance is absolutely amazing. I was impressed at how fast it ran on my 4.5 year old desktop, and wanted to experience the same great performance on my two month old laptop (upon which Vista seemed a bit sluggish!).

Wow! You’re making me excited. I really need to try it out. Great screenshots!
It does look and sound great. I’m currently running Vista, and haven’t had too many issues with it. It does run slow on occasion though, so I’m considering giving Windows 7 a try…
I’m working on converting everyone in the house. I got it on my desktop, brother built a PC and stuck it on, wiped my laptop clean and stuck it there, and Randy’s computer needed a format so we got it there too. Now we’re 2 computers short *mom and other brother* I really have to give this one to Microsoft, they did a good job.
well ain’t that purdy lol.
I was all for vista until i realized none of my old games will play on it!!
probably can’t play them on windows 7 either but might try it on my poor miracle computer!
My boyfriend has it installed on his desktop and he lovesss it. I played with it a few times and it’s nice, but I’m a still Mac girl
It is definitely a step up from xp and an even smaller step up from Vista.
I absolutely hate Vista, like with a passion. I have had more problems with it then one should have when using the computer. Maybe I should try Windows 7?
I love Windows 7. I have been using it for more then a month now and it is pure love. Lol. I was using my laptop yesterday for things and I didn’t realize just how much I hate Vista until I had to use it. I’m too lazy to install Windows 7 on my laptop and I use it so infrequently that I suppose I can deal. But Windows 7 ? *huggles*
