Dan arranged to have off tonight, and I arranged for my mom to be at our house with Alyssa and Ryan. So, whoo! A night on the town! It doesn’t happen much for us, and we SO needed it. We went out this afternoon with the kids and met Jason for lunch at Perkins, and the kids were okay there, though Ryan insisted on licking salt and pepper off the table and Alyssa wouldn’t eat her hamburger until the server put cheese on it. But then we went to the store to look for birthday presents and possible tiki torches, and Alyssa kept wanting to run off, and Ryan went apeshit because he wanted to walk, then sit in the cart, then sit on a swing in the garden area, then be carried, and then he screamed and fought all the way to the car. Ugh. We couldn’t get home soon enough.
So, we’re out. We actually came over to his brothers’ apartment for a delicious dinner of steaks & garlic mashed potatoes. Right now I’m blogging (I brought my laptop with me because I know how the guys like to get together and play their games, and this way I’m not sitting here bored out of my skull. It’s a win-win situation!) because Dan’s youngest brother just got home from work, and he is going to enjoy his steak and mashed potatoes. Then? Watchmen! On Blu-ray! Whoo! We saw it in IMAX on the opening night back in March (it was in March, right?), and it was so good. I can’t wait to see it again.
I do feel all right now. I made the mistake of downing half of a cherry lifesaver on a practically empty stomach when we got here, and felt incredibly woozy and nauseous for about a half hour afterward. Now, after drinking some water and eating dinner I feel good once again, and quite sober, so I’ll probably go back and finish the other half of the drink after the movie is over.
Tomorrow I need to pick up the party tray and birthday cake for Ryan’s birthday party (ahh my baby boy turns three in two days!), as well as a helium tank. I need to do some last minute carpet steam cleaning, especially since Danielle and Matt are coming over tomorrow evening. And then Sunday… Ryan’s birthday and PARTY! Whoo!

The dinner sounds wonderful. I’m glad you had fun :D
A night away from the kids is definitely something every couple needs every so often. Dinner sounded yummy and I hope the rest of your night was just as enjoyable.
