I’m taking Alyssa and Ryan to Chuck E. Cheese today. Their website has some coupons, and Jason showed me a few more on Slick Deals, so for $40 we’ll be up to our eyeballs in pizza and tokens. I’m going to pick up my fourteen year old brother and then take all three kids (my brother is fourteen; is it wrong to still call him a kid?) to the Chuck E. Cheese that is near his school. It’s about 99% less ghetto than the local Chuck E. Cheese, so aside from squealing kids and flashing lights it shouldn’t be too bad.
The new layout is up, as you can see! I messed around with some ideas off and on yesterday, and then right when I was making dinner inspiration hit me. Once the kids were in bed I set to work, and five or so hours of messing with HTML and CSS brought about what you’re looking at. 
It’s definitely a widescreen-preferred type of layout; I know that in smaller resolutions the tree will overlap the right sidebar. But the content in the right sidebar isn’t as “important”, so to speak, and it shouldn’t be hard to distinguish categories, tags and the search field from the tree.
Thank you all for the nice comments, by the way! I was going for something open and subdued, yet different from what I’ve done in the past, and I think this turned out perfectly. ♥

I love it but I already told u that on twitter. I bet the kids will have alot of fun at chuck e cheese. I am a weirdo and always worry about all the germs there but my kids love it so I try to contain my phobia’s for their sake.
oh man when i was a kid my parents used to take me to chuck e cheese (and showbiz pizza which chuck e cheese bought out) for my birthday all the time! i loved the pizza and the videogames but the robot animals always scared the crap out of me LOL! do they still have the little stage shows in the eating area?
this is a great layout but one small weird thing, if i click my mouse anywhere on your blog page, even like.. in this text comment area or just a blank area on the page, the whole page reacts as if it is loading something but nothing changes. not sure if that’s intended figured i’d point it out :s
