I successfully made a batch of Hello Kitty cake pops. The easiest part was making the crumbled cake + frosting mixture. Since I had chosen a moist cake recipe, it didn’t take more than 2/3 of a can of icing and a few minutes of kneading everything together with my hands to come up with an appropriate mixture. The mix probably made enough for close to fifty cake pops, but I didn’t feel like making quite that many, so I just rolled out enough heads for twenty.
I only killed three Hello Kittys in the process! Two came off their sticks when I dunked them in the candy melt, and a third just slid all the way down its stick (I have no idea how that happened). I’d say that 17/20 Hello Kitty cake pops on my very first try with doing ANYTHING beyond a basic cake/cupcake recipe is pretty damn good.
I also managed to burn the candy melting when I was re-heating it last night. But that’s all right… I was tired anyway, so I was more than happy to let the un-dunked cake pops chill in the fridge overnight. After going out to breakfast and taking Ryan to Chuck E. Cheese, we stopped at a craft store and I picked up two additional bags of candy melts, so I was in business this afternoon!
Nom nom nom. It was quite tasty! I can’t wait to show them to Alyssa tomorrow!

They’re awesome, you did a great job for a first timer who professes she’s not a kitchen diva. But honestly, you baked your arse off this holiday season so you’re quite good in my opinion.
I should make these for Sydney to take to school on her birthday, wonder if they have a boyish version that would keep the little dudes happy too?
I think I will most definitely have to agree with this title. Those are pretty bad ass looking Hello Kitty’s! Good job, Jenn!

How did the kids enjoy it? did they like it? Omg, I feel like such a kid myself, I’m gonna try and get my mum to make them for me haha!
I had a dream about you the other night, (nothing sexual don’t worry lol) but it had something to do with your site/Q&A page.. You blogged about me being a stalker and that’s why you don’t answer your questions because I keep asking weird questions lmao…
Don’t mind me, I dream of really strange things at times!!
