Who remembers chat rooms?

I’m somewhat embarrassed to admit that chat rooms were one of the first social tools I discovered when I first got online (wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back when in 1998!). Even more embarrassing — and STUPID — was that I had absolutely no hesitations of sharing my full name, the city and state I lived in, and the name of my high school. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I still cringe when I think about it. Thankfully, nothing ever came of it.
But on the flip side of things, it was through that very first chatroom that I met a guy who lived in the UK, who in turn introduced me to a friend of his, who invited me into an IRC chatroom… and it was in there that I met my ex. Funny how one thing can lead to another, huh?

For those of you that still chat these days, city-based chats are cool, if you’re into that sort of thing. If you live in Florida, then a florida chat might be of interest to you. At floridachatcity.com you can register a free account, create a profile, connect your cam, view the cams of orders, and, of course, chat!

Oh my – when I was 17 I used to go on BBS’s ALL the time! Not only did I have no problem giving out all my details, I used to meet them!! Like, go to restaurants, or pool halls, or APARTMENTS to meet these people! My son will never know this ;)
