Note to self: it’s a good idea to check the preschool calendar before getting daughter up for preschool. Because as it turns out, Alyssa does not have preschool today. Or Monday, either. Of course, I didn’t learn that until I looked at the calendar (that I conveniently placed on the side of our fridge!) at 8:57am, three minutes before I was going to run out the door with her and Ryan.
So Alyssa doesn’t have preschool today, and she and Ryan do not have preschool on Monday, either. Ryan’s special education preschool has off next week, so he only gets to go once, instead of four days in a row. I’m not sure who will be more disappointed, Ryan or me! ;) I’ve really gotten into the groove of getting up at 8:00am (or a little before; this morning I woke up on my own at 7:45am), getting showered and dressed, getting the kids up and going, and then doing my hair and makeup while they’re eating breakfast. After dropping them off at preschool, I come back and work on some writing projects about HCG weight loss and whatever else happens to be on my to-do list, and maybe some laundry until it’s time to leave at 11:40am and go pick them up. Let me tell you, I’ve been really enjoying and making the most of two and a half hours of freedom from both kids twice a week! And since Alyssa is really independent and enjoys doing her own thing, the mornings when Ryan is in school but she isn’t (Tuesdays & Thursdays) are almost as quiet and productive.
Have I mentioned how much is going on this month? October is going to be BUSY:
October 10th: Alyssa is invited to Dan’s aunt’s niece’s five year old birthday party, so I need to figure out when and where I’ll be taking her and picking her up.
October 18th: Halloween-themed Pug meetup, and I think my mom is coming along and we’re having lunch with a friend of hers either before or after
October 24th: Halloween bonfire at Dan’s aunt’s house. We go every year.
October 25th: Alyssa’s fifth birthday party! (Invitations are going out TODAY.)
October 27th: Alyssa’s fifth birthday! We plan on acknowledging her actual birthday with a little cake and maybe a special gift.
October 29th: I’ve got some stuff going on that day.
October 30th: Trick or Treat. Yes, my county is fucking retarded (and fucking retardedly conservative) and thinks that by holding Halloween on any day but Halloween will somehow discourage the hooligans. Plus the 31st falls on a Saturday this year, and ~oh noez~ heaven forbid the kiddies be up late and hyped up on candy the night before CHURCH.
And in between is the normal preschool schedules for Alyssa and Ryan, my own work, and play therapy appointments on Thursdays at 2:00pm. Plus whatever happens to come up in between!

I hope you guys have a fun long weekend. Your October schedule does look busy. I can’t believe they do Halloween on the 30th! Where I live they call the 30th ‘Devil’s Night’ and thats usually when all the trouble starts. The only time they’ve changed Halloween here was if it fell on a Sunday which makes sense, I suppose.
Whoa you are a busy girl! I hate it when it goes all crazy like that….
Ditto what Shauna said about the night before. It’s stupid to move it. Yeah it irks me if it’s on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday because it’s mid week and school the next day is just too rushed. But, if it’s not on Halloween it just doesn’t feel right!
It drives me bananas when Halloween is not on Halloween. I don’t care if it is Sunday, or what, it should be on Halloween. UGH!
Having trick-or-treating on the 30th doesn’t discourage hooligans, it just makes it so there are no witnesses on the 31st!
