Candy Corn and Pumpkin Spice Hershey kisses. YES. Last night I saw these mentioned when I was searching for interesting candy corn cookie recipes, and dragged my slightly feverish self out to Target to pick up bags of them. In my defense, I also needed bleach, flour, and something for dinner. I didn’t need the hot dog costume that I found for Leah, but it’s going back anyway, because it’s too big for her. I plan on using the Hershey Kisses to make those spiffy peanut butter drop cookies that have the Kisses in the middle.
Blustery afternoons. I may bitch about being chilly, but I love cooler weather. Hoodie weather is perfect for me.
Weird rain-inducing fronts. Tell me the heavily contrasting clouds & sky that sudden cold fronts cause don’t make for some kick ass photos:
Halloween. Halloween is such a fun holiday. Even though my town is governed by a bunch of morons that insist on changing the Trick or Treat date every year, we’re still going to have fun. There’s the Halloween-themed Pug meetup this Sunday, the annual Halloween bonfire Dan’s aunt and uncle have next Saturday evening, Trick or Treat on the 30th, and another Trick or Treat at a local shopping center a few days before that.
Brrr…
While I love cooler weather, I don’t love it in my house. We’re putting off turning on the heat in the house for as long as possible. Propane is just so damn expensive, grrr. We filled up our tanks twice last year, to the tune of $700 per fill-up. *cry* It’s not so bad, unless you’re just sitting still for a while. But we have an electric space heater that we use in the living room (only when we’re here though; no fires for me thanks!), a brand new ceiling fan that is on the “warm” setting, and we all have hoodies and plenty of thick blankets on the beds. I also keep a blanket on the couch for daytime snuggling. Last night Ryan wore two layers of pajamas to bed, and Alyssa wore a flannel set to bed. A thermometer we keep in the living room reported last night’s temp at 64, and right now it’s about 66. Not too bad, right?
So, what are everyone’s plans for the weekend?

I absolutely love autumn! I am right there with you for hooded sweatshirt and blue jean weather. Not a big fan of the cold, but it’s the perfect excuse for snuggling!
While I love autumn, I’m relaly glad it’s spring here! ;)
Studying this weekend, gpot a halloween party to organise a costume for on 31st though!!! No idea what to wear.
I love Autumn but the cold is what gets me. I can stand heat a lot better then cold. Autumn and Summer are my two favorite seasons. I like winter for the sole purpose of Christmas and that’s it.
I think Autumn is the most beautiful time of the year. I don’t mind the chilly weather, I was born in December to a dark and cold country and I’ve learnt to love it :D I have to admit that I do love Winter even more than Autumn, but Autumn is much more beautiful time of the year. Too bad we don’t celebrate Halloween! I think it’d be awesome
They make ceiling fans that blow warm air?! I want one! :O
I want to dress Chloe (my Jack Russell) up for Halloween. I’ve been looking for a frog costume for her. My sister wants to stick her in a tutu, lol.
Hoodie weather is the best! I love October because things really start to pick up with festivals and stuff. Plus, it’s the start of the holiday season, and holidays rock.
I moved to Richmond recently and it was soooo hot. Then it got down to 70s and I was in love. Now it’s 50s, but that’s good because it’s NOT 90! It’s also not cold enough to snow (THANK GOD), so I’m surviving.
Ryan and I are doing the same thing with the heat!! We will not be defeated by a couple of cold days! I wouldn’t turn it on at all, but the lowest our thermostat goes is 50, so if it gets below that we don’t have a choice. Therefore, that’s our gauge. At least for now. Hot water is free, so we’ll just take lots of showers!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Halloween. I’m so excited… you don’t understand! :D:D:D
Okay the first time I read your post I totally missed the Pumpkin Spice Hershey Kisses. Have you tried them? Are they any good? They sound awesome. I would totally run out to target and get some too if I had any money. I love your idea on using them on cookies. You so have to let us know how they are!
I love autumn as well, i just hate the colds and flus that come along during that time of year. I love seeing the leaves change but unfortunately winter hits us before too long. We’ve had flurries twice already,
I’m opposite from you there, I love warm weather. Cold weather makes me feel rigid~ However, I am very festive and sentimental. If it’s fall, it means BIRTHDAY for me and Halloween!! I love Halloween. I can’t wait to see pics of your kids and what costumes you chose for them~
My plan for the weekend is work lol.
Autumn isn’t my favorite time of the year (that would be Spring), but I do enjoy the weather. The coolness signifies the holidays are near, and I agree that hoodie weather feels nice. I’m going to have to get some of the Pumpkin Spice Kisses, as I’ve never tried them.
