Last June my car suddenly blew out nothing but heat. Yes, heat. I don’t mean outside-temperature air, which just so happened to be hot because DUH, it’s summer, I mean heat, of the hot, appropriate-for-winter variety. After a few days of driving around with the windows down and still dying (because even when switched to “off”, a light amount of air continues to blow out of the vents), I googled around and found an obscure little note about a manual switch located beneath the front passenger side dash area. Lo and behold, a quick reach under and flick to the left brought back the glorious air conditioning.
(For search engine purposes let me clarify: if you have HEAT or AIR CONDITIONING issues with your 2002 Kia Spectra GSX, check for a switch located beneath the front passenger side dash area. Again, HEAT problems? AIR CONDITIONING problems? Hot air only? Cold air only? Have a Kia Spectra GSX? Look for that little switch and flick it to the left or right and ta-da, problem solved!)
(Also, why does that switch even EXIST? Hello useless much!?)
Well, the switch must have gotten bumped again, because I really froze my butt off yesterday morning when I was running errands with the kids — nothing but COLD air was blowing out. So apparently there’s a heat only setting, a cold only setting, and the “normal” setting. Well, I was messing around as quick as I could because it was raining, so right now it’s back on the heat only setting. Not too bad, given how cold and raw it’s been these last few days…
Anyway, these two experiences, particularly the first (since you can bundle up in the cold but can only take off so much in the heat!), made me really appreciate my car’s air conditioning system. Nothing like having a blast of heat coming at you in June to make you scramble to find Kia ac compressor, or Honda ac compressor, or whatever-type-of-car-you-have air conditioning compressor.
P.S. Looking for auto ac parts? DiscountACParts.com is one source that might be worth looking into!

I don’t have heat problems persay, but with all this rain we’ve been having, and the colder nights, it seems to take forever and a day to de-fog my windows. I was running a few arrands before work, and had to blast the AC, shivering, just to de fog. When they cleared, it wasn’t much longer until they fogged back up again, and low and behold, the AC started back up again. *sigh*
