This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Alice.com. All opinions are 100% mine.
Alice.com seems pretty cute. The free membership offers individuals the opportunity to shop for common household products online, and possibly getting a better deal on them. Shipping is also reportedly free, so there’s no instance of making up the savings by spending it on shipping and handling costs.
I just signed up to try out the site, and signing up was easy enough — choose who I am in the family (woman or man over 18), specify the gender and age range of family members, and then input my name, email address, desired password and zip code. Poof — I was logged in and ready to start looking for stuff. Alice.com claims that the average user can save over $100 each year via automatically applied coupons, and that savings is on top of the low prices and free shipping.
I usually spend about $200 per month on things like laundry detergent, dish soap, dishwasher detergent, toilet paper, baby wipes, tampons, disposable razor blades, deodorant, etc. I always shop at Target, and I try to shop during sales and use coupons. I also use generic brands for certain items — toilet paper, baby wipes, hand soap, and most recently, laundry detergent (I’ll let you know how that goes — Dan did up the few loads of laundry since I left the hospital yesterday, so I have no idea how it turned out).
So let’s see… I’ll go ahead and run up a list of the items I usually buy each month, and let’s see what it comes to.
Now that’s interesting… one pack of Huggies Thick & Clean Baby Wipes is about $6.99 at Target. Alice.com has them for $5.63. Yet a 12-pack of Energizer batteries were a bit more expensive… $10.19, while I can get the big 24-pack for $15 or less at Target.
Overall, it looks like I can save a few bucks if I were to use Alice.com. But I like the traditional way of shopping, especially on those days where the kids are stir-crazy and just want to get out for a bit. Plus Target offers generic products and sales; Alice.com only offers the flat prices and coupons as they come along, and there are no generics.
But for those who enjoy the convenience of online shopping, I can see Alice.com as being a valuable resource.
