Yesterday and today were definitely better days. I’m eating more frequently — super teensy meals 5-6 times per day (and eating one last time before I go to bed, which is funny because it goes against everything people who want to lose weight should be doing!) instead of three teensy meals. I’ve been doing well on turkey, mashed potatoes and vegetables (nothing pureed, because I can’t stand the idea of drinking my meals. I chew everything to death instead!), so last night I put together a turkey pot pie and had a bit of it (with just one small bite of crust). I also tried a small piece of mozzarella cheese — I can technically start on low-fat cheeses next week — and did fine with that as well.
Now that I can actually chew my food again, I need to focus on getting this damn household back in order. While Alyssa can handle spontaneous changes and on-the-fly plans, Ryan needs a strict routine, and with the return to preschool starting tomorrow, it’s essential that we get back on our regular schedule. For the past week I’ve been sleeping in until 10:00am and 11:00am. I haven’t done that since the summer! So starting tomorrow morning, I’m going back to getting up at 8:00am. Dan returned to work Sunday night, and he is working late tonight, so I can’t expect him to come home at 2:00am and then turn around and send Ryan off to preschool in the morning. I may not be able to lift Ryan, but I can certainly wake him up, help him dress, give him breakfast and walk him out to the school bus.
Besides, I miss the quiet mornings when the kids are still asleep or at preschool. They’re great for getting some work time in.
Right now I’m sort of watching a Lifetime movie. Oh, and Lifetime? Get some creativity. For years I’ve joked that you’re all about the abused women and all of the cliches that go along with them (note: I am not making light of domestic abuse! Just sayin’ that Lifetime needs to think outside of the box, that’s all…), and then the other night I flip through the TV guide and come across a Lifetime movie titled Black and Blue. Way to prove my point there, Lifetime…
I was dozing for a while earlier. I felt really crappy earlier this evening, I think a combination of being tired, forgetting to eat for several hours and not feeling good (whatever crap Dan has, I have unfortunately gotten as well) just all hit me at once. Jason was nice enough to come over and keep an eye on Alyssa and Ryan and put them to bed while I rested. I’m up now because I just couldn’t fall back asleep after he left. Grrr…. don’t you hate when that happens? Oh well. I’m feeling sleepy, so I should be able to go back to bed soon.
So, what is everyone up to this week? As for me, I have tons of work to get caught up on!

I’ve been “stalking” you for awhile now (shame on me) but want you to know how awesome I think your weight loss choices are! Keep up the good work!
A few months ago I joined 24 Hour Fitness- not with specific weight loss goals but more generally to “be healthy” (I’m a little overweight, not bad, but VERY lazy and out of shape). I love to swim and swimming is the exercise that works for me, so most days I’m in the pool there. Of course there are a handful of skinny people who work out and complain about struggling to lose those last few pounds (they drive me nuts!). But there is another gal I see there a lot, a regular, who is definitely fighting morbid obesity. I do not know her weight but frankly I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s in the 500lb range- outside of the pool, she can only walk short distances with canes and is mostly wheelchair-bound. But let me tell you, I have more respect for her than for all those skinny people combined. She works out regularly, and let me tell you, once she is in the water, she can BOOGIE! I have seen skinny people get in the water and get totally worn out after just one lap- but she can keep going for several laps without too much trouble!
Anyway, all that to say… keep it up! You are doing so good and are such an inspiration!
