Last month I wrote about Alice.com. Now that we’re all pretty damn broke after the holidays (though there’s still New Year’s to plan for!), it might be a good time to reconsider those memberships to bulk stores such as BJ’s and Costco, as buying in bulk means getting a lot more for your buck. Alice.com may also be worth a look. What is Alice.com, exactly? Well, it’s a site that offers you the ability to do a majority of your household shopping online! Shop for laundry detergent, toilet paper, personal products, baby essentials such as diapers and more, and never pay a dime on shipping.
How does Alice.com work? Well, you sign up — membership is free, by the way — and specify who you are in the family (man or woman over the age of 18) and how many family members you have (you input the gender and age range of each family member), and then include your zip code so that Alice.com can get you the best deals.
Then it’s time to start shopping! Browse categories or use specific keywords to find the household items you purchase on a regular basis. I estimate that I spend $200 – $250 a month on household items and pet supplies, and I ran through the website to pick out as much of that stuff as I could. It looks like I can save some money, especially if I’m willing to go down to a smaller quantity, or use a different brand (Cottonelle instead of Charmin, for instance). But to be honest with you, I’m into the standard mode of shopping, particularly since it gives us something to do during the week!
But if shopping online for household essentials sounds appealing to you, try out Alice.com. Coupons are automatically deducted from eligible products, and you can use the website itself to keep tabs on the supplies in your household.
P.S. Use Alice.com’s Refer a Friend program to get $10 off a $50 purchase, a 3% earnings on affiliate purchases for a year!
