  1. God I hate people that try and say you are a bad parent for *insert any activity you might have that doesn’t include your kids*. I want to smack them in the head with a fish. Like, HEAVEN FORBID AN ADULT HAVE SOME ADULT TIME. What are you thinking?!

  4. I’m totally with Antigone! I’m willing to bet that those who are quick to call you out on things like that are either not parents themselves or parents who smother the ever-loving crap out of their children. That’s not healthy. Their kids will never learn to be independent.

    Anywho, I wish you luck with all your resolutions this year. You have quite a few to keep up with. I’d be too scared of failing if I made that many, so I really admire you! :)

    This is the first time I have seen you in video form–It was awesome and you should definitely video blog more. I have done very few vlogs for over on Woman Tribune and blog memes and stuff like that but as you mentioned, it’s a very difficult thing to do when you’re incredibly self-conscious. I always say that the reason why I make such a good writer is because I really suck when it comes to the vocal speech thing. I trip over my words quite a bit, I’ll turn the video camera on and then just sit there all ‘Uhh… Wait, I had the words. I had ideas!’ and yeah, I just basically over-thinking everything! Glad you’ve made the resolution to do more vlogs, I’ll definitely be watching, you’re very entertaining as far as being comfortable in front of the camera and your voice is nice and kind of relaxing; I was working while listening to this and I picked up the pace for those 10 minutes or so! Maybe I’ll start coming out of my shell when it comes to video blogging, you’ve inspired me! I also need to start commenting more on other people’s blogs, especially since Menstrual Poetry has been on a semi-hiatus over the past 4 months or so; just really haven’t had the time to blog so all of my readers are gone. Need to fix all that again!

    Wow, sorry for the long comment. I must be in a chatty mood tonight!

    Oh, also! Ignore all of those people who tell you you’re a bad mother because you do this or did that or made some off-hand comment about something because they are merely taking all of the reasons why they blame themselves for not doing something right and pushing it onto you in order to bring someone else down with them. Misery loves company and all that. In fact, when it comes to motherhood, there are a lot of women who I feel very badly for because society has put so much emphasis on being a great mother and doing this and that and the other thing and it has gotten so incredibly out of control to the point where women are falling in step and blaming themselves for not being good enough and you know what? You are good enough; as long as you’re doing your best in the motherhood department, the rest of the world can go fuck right off. Am I right!? Haha.

    Glad to see you vlogging again! And good luck with those resolutions! I decided not to make any this year, cause I’ll just stress myself out when I realise I haven’t been keeping up with them. I have to say that you’ve inspired me (and I’m sure many others too) to make more video blogs! :)

One of my resolutions is to start reading and commenting regularly all the blogs I used to read faithfully and just haven’t this past year so huzzah, it’s somewhat like yours :P It was really cool being able to put a voice to your face and writing, and I think I may try and crack my own shell and do some video blogs too! :)

    Can’t wait to follow you through the year and maybe you’ll stop by my corner of the insane interwebs too.

    I’ve been vlogging (on youtube) for a few months… but I still get awkward in front of the camera! I dont know if I could ever get over that :(

    Last year I tried getting into paid blogging, but its so much harder than I thought it would be! I’m still determined to do it though, and I hope this year I’ll actually be able to :)

    Btw, it was your blog that I came across early last year that inspired me to actually get up and do it. I’ve heard of paid blogging before (I’ve been blogging since 2000) but I didnt think just anyone could do it, I thought you had to be hired by some big company or something. So thank you, for letting me know that something I love doing can be my job :)

  23. I loved your resolutions, very well done. Though I have to ask what company you contract with that pays you $50 per article? I’m really looking into trying to gain some extra income so that would be awesome if I could do that.
