Dan and I keep personal lubricant around for the times when we want to get a little… kinky. But under normal circumstances, synthetic lubrication isn’t necessary, so we don’t pay a lot of attention to the type of lube we do buy to have on standby. Usually it’s a tube of KY Jelly, or Target’s generic version of it. But when the company behind Aloe Cadabra contacted me to find out if I would be interested in trying their line of personal lubricants, I said yes please!
So, Aloe Cadabra. Why the name? Well, it’s magic. ;) Kidding. Sorry, I had a few spoonfuls of a made-up (but not baked; why hello there salmonella!) brownie mix, and I think the sugar is hitting my system. Whee! Anyway, I’m not sure why Cadabra, but Aloe is in the name because it’s one of the key ingredients in the lubricants! Aloe Cadabra is personal (read: sexual) lubricant that contains organic aloe vera, citric acid, organic oils, and xanthan & food grade stabilizers. The aloe vera serves to moisturize, soothe and lubricate, while the other ingredients aid in the general purpose of the product. Unlike other lubricants, Aloe Cadabra is organically-based. You won’t find harsh, synthetic chemicals or petroleum in its ingredient list!
I received sample bottles of Aloe Cadabra in all three varieties: French Lavender, Tahitian Vanilla, and Original Aloe. Of the three, I think I like the French Lavender scent the best. It’s just enough to be sensual and calming, without the cloying tendency that a lot of lavender-scented products have. The lubrication itself performs beautifully. Consistency-wise, it’s thinner than most retail lubricants, which was a pleasant surprise. It wasn’t gooey! It wasn’t sticky! The one thing I despise about personal lubricants (which is why I’m so glad we only occasionally use them!) is the sticky, gloppy mess that has to be cleaned up. Aloe Cadabra was nothing like that. In fact, most of the “excess” wound up getting absorbed (the makers of the product also recommend it for general skin moisturizing and softening!), so there wasn’t much to clean up at all.
In terms of any reactions or sensitivities, there were none. I will admit, at first I was a little nervous about using scented lubricants, particularly when I tried them out on my own with a few toys (those Eden Fantasys products don’t just review themselves you know!). But I had absolutely no reaction of any kind, and the lubrication that just a small amount of Aloe Cadabra provides is amazing. A little bit of that stuff really goes a long way! And again, it isn’t thick, gooey and sticky, so I didn’t mind handling it and using it.
Dan also wanted me to mention that he enjoyed the sensations provided by Aloe Cadabra. I won’t get into details, but let’s just say he really enjoyed using it!

Sounds wonderful but I’d be a little hesitant to try it. I tend to have random reactions to Aloe resulting in hives (and that’s not something I want in any “personal” areas lol). I’ve always been a fan of Astroglide. May sound kind of dumb but it seems more water-based than others I’ve seen. At room temperature it’s more like your natural lubrication than a gel.
