Frozen girly bits

Today Dan and I suited the kids up to venture out into Snowmageddon. I only planned on staying out for just a few minutes, since cold weather & pneumonia typically aren’t a good mix, but I did grab my camera on the way out the door. And holy crap, I’m glad I did. You just don’t SEE snow in such huge amounts normally, so I’m glad I nabbed proof of the eight and ten foot drifts and general thigh- and waist-high snow accumulations. Of course, wading through waist-high snow wasn’t a pleasant experience. I scurried indoors quickly enough, and whipped up the perfect lunch for a cold, snowy day: semi-homemade chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese sandwiches.

Between last weekend’s storm and the new stuff, the total accumulations are nearing the four foot mark! Highways were shut down, and the school district is closed tomorrow — for the third day in a row. Our school district usually waits until the last minute to declare a 1-hour delay, while every other district in the area has a 2-hour delay or is already closed, so the fact that for two days in a row now they have put in the closed notification for the next day is somewhat impressive.

The snow kept Dan home on Wednesday, and he had off today since today was the day I would have had my stricture fixed, and I’m so glad he’s been around. The weekend was rough to get through when he was at work, and on Sunday night I was so sick and miserable and desperate to go to bed (but couldn’t because he was at work and the kids were still up) that I was near tears when I called to find out when he would be home. So anyway, he has been home since Tuesday, and has been doing extra around the house and with the kids so I can rest. I have oral antibiotics, an inhaler, OTC cold meds and a cool mist humidifier that I have been running constantly, but I still feel tired, light-headed and constantly out of breath. The chest tightness and inability to catch my breath came on out of nowhere on Tuesday morning, and it has hung on with a vengeance ever since. *sigh*

I’ve spent the time catching up on TV shows, napping (a lot, blah), doing work here and there (speaking of which, I just finished up a project for a client that has been driving me freaking crazy for a few weeks now. Er, the project, not the client. She’s great! The project? Not so much. A seemingly simple task turned out to be incredibly frustrating and complex to figure out!), and catching up on blogs. Speaking of blogs, I have blogging of my own to catch up on, and I’ve been tossing around ideas for a dark theme for several weeks now… I’m hoping to get to that this week.

Tell your part of the country to stop hogging the snow!

Snow is always nice and I love the feeling of breeze on my face.

  3. As much as I feel sorry for you for the amount of snow you have been hit with, I am ever so grateful that we did not get hit nearly as bad (at least not yet)! I hope you start feeling better soon and that the weather straightens out for you soon.
