Ants in the pants

I apologize in advance for the fact that this blog entry is going to be all over the place, but I am freaking excited about an awesome job opportunity that was presented to me today. I’ll definitely blog about it once I know that I have the job, and when I get the go-ahead to. *squee*

So let’s see. Dan made awesome, awesome shrimp tonight. He took the time to behead, skin, de-vein and de-poop jumbo shrimp, flay them, dip them in a homemade batter and fry them. I managed to eat — and keep down — exactly 2.5 of them, one French fry, and a few green beans. Dessert? A melted-chocolate-center Hershey kiss. *nom*

I ♥ my son and his silly antics. This evening he kept asking for kisses, then going, “Ew, yuck!” and wiping them off his face whenever we’d give them to him. He has the most infectious laugh, I swear.

I ♥ my dog. She’s a pain in the ass in terms of how attached she is to me, and the fact that we need to crate her even if I leave the house for the two minutes it takes to walk Ryan to the school bus, put him on the bus, say hi to the bus driver and walk back in, but I still love her. She’s loyal, friendly, great with the kids, and a nice watch dog. Her obedience and quick response to commands are nice perks, too.

My brothers are coming over for lunch & a home visit tomorrow afternoon. It’ll be a full house, what with the parent trainer (she’s totally cool though, so I don’t mind her being here), my mom, my two brothers, Dan, Alyssa, Ryan, me, and the zoo of animals that our home houses, but we’ll find space for everyone, so it’s all good.

Speaking of the parent trainer… my mom told me today that the parent trainer’s son, who lives just a few houses down from us, was feeding a stray cat for several months. Maybe not coincidentally, said stray cat recently stopped coming around. Interesting, no? The PT is going to check with her son to see if the stray cat he was feeding happened to be an orange tabby. And… still no phone calls received since I put up the sign yesterday morning, by the way. *shrug* I’m telling you people, strays are very common around here. It’s sad but true. It’s especially bad in the spring and summer; we have to be careful driving at night, because they’re frequently near or on the roads.

And did I mention the super fantastically awesome job opportunity? *bounce*

Seeing you with the dog makes me think of my dog that I had with my EX ( Lucky ). I love that dog and I swear .. I’d do anything to have a dog like him again in my life.

Shrimp looks delicious, Ryan looks amazingly handsome and adorable, you look gorgeous and Leah (that’s how you spell it, right?) is d’awwwww. I want a pug too but unfortunately the significant bother despises dogs, *especially* smaller ones. :/

Btw, it’s really hard to read your blog posts that have pictures in them because I keep going back to the photos and gawking at them. They’re so… *pro*. :P

  5. I hope you get your job thingy!!! I seriously am glad that you did take the time to put up a sign about that cat. i know i told you that before but I really am. I hope that he is a stray and you get to keep him since you all are already loving the little fellow!

Leah is sooo precious, i always mean to ask you what do you do with your kitties when you have to go out of the house(like when everyone in your family goes out) do you put them up or leave them out. i’m trying to figure out what to do with the new boy when we have to run out of the house every now and then.

  6. @nichole: I’m glad I put up signs too, because I know all of the bases are covered. I went around and all of the signs are up and legible (we’ve had some rain, but I used a permanent marker, so nothing ran or streaked), but no one has called to claim a lost cat. *shrug* I too hope he turns out to definitely be a stray, because we’re all in love with him!

As far as what I do with the kitties, they have free run of the house all of the time. Whenever we first get a cat we tend to keep it in the bathroom for the first few days, but only until he is acclimated to both the house (where the food dish and litter box is) and the other cats. Leah, on the other hand, gets crated.

Parent trainer? I think I kinda have an idea… is it to train your mother how to be a better parent and to appease the judge?

  9. @Angela: exactly. Lucky for us — and especially my mom — she’s pretty cool. She’s in her 60s, was a foster parent for over 20 years, and has been a PT for the last 15 years. She knows what “the system” is like — both good and bad.

  10. Ooh that shrimp looks tasty! Ryan is so adorable. That is so adorable about him wiping the kisses off his face after asking for him. I squeaked a little at how cute that is. I can’t wait to hear about the job opportunity!

  11. Those shrimp look absolutely delicious! You might can tell I haven’t had dinner yet….nom, nom, nom! :)
