Don’t get ahead of yourself

It’s almost six o’clock in the evening and the temperature is still right around 60°, so it’s nice surprise that people are crawling out of the woodwork in order to enjoy the sunshine and the warmth — especially after Snowmeggedon. But I’ve already seen a few dumb women walking around — and freezing, no doubt — in capris and flip-flops. I know everyone is excited about the mild temperature — I am too! — but it’s not summer yet. Hell, if you want to get technical, it’s not spring, either. ;)

Speaking of spring & summer, I’m kind of bummed because now I have the opportunity to bask in the warmer temperatures and wear lighter clothing, yet I don’t have much to wear! I’m down to two pairs of jeans — both are a size 18, and both are getting loose — and six short-sleeved shirts. Four of those shirts are tie-dyed, and the other two are the ones I picked up from ThinkGeek in late January. They fit, but I have a long torso, so they’re not quite long enough on me… yet. If I drop another 10-15 lbs I know they’ll fit better, since my shoulders, boobs and stomach will be smaller.
My next clothing goal is the two pairs of size 17 jeans that are chilling in the bottom drawer of my dresser. I can get them on, but I can’t get them past my thunder thighs, which leaves me frustrated because I can tell from the material bagging around my thighs that if I could get the damn jeans up, they would fit my waist/hips/butt perfectly. I’m 222 now… I’m guessing by the time I hit 210 I’ll be able to wiggle into them. If not, I’ll be tempted to break out shoe horns and lubricant! I want to WEAR THEM dammit!

Anyway. Right now I’m at Panera Bread, enjoying a few nibbles of a chocolate duet w/ walnuts cookie and a bottle of water (not together, obviously. I don’t dump on a cookie alone, but if I wash it down faster with water, dumping ahoy!) and going through some emails — work emails. Speaking of work, guess who got her very first paycheck this morning (and by direct deposit, too!)? *dances* This is the start of a beautiful thing, I can feel it. ;)
So yeah… I’m at Panera, and also waiting on Dan to finish at work and get his cute butt over here. We’re going to kill time here until 9, and then we’re going to see Shutter Island. Our very awesome best friend, Jason, offered to babysit tonight so we could have a date night. ♥

Speaking of beautiful things, I’m not going to pass up on the absolutely gorgeous weather we’re supposed to have through the weekend. Tomorrow morning Dan and I are hitting the road bright and early to attend to some business with our lawyer, and when we get home I’m going to drag Dan (he doesn’t know this yet, hence the term drag) and the kids to the park for a while. On Saturday my mom and I have a picnic planned for all four kids (my brothers + my two) at another, larger park that has a gorgeous and massive sprawling wooden playground. I can’t wait!

  1. Shutter island is a good movie. I enjoyed it. I’ve also been getting back into working. It can be overwhelming once you get a lot of clients. Now I remember why I stopped, lol.

  2. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the movie. I’ve been wanting to see it but haven’t gotten around it. YAY for paychecks! Wish I was getting one, guh. I will be getting out into the sunshine again today :) Such a nice change of pace.

Congratulations on your weight loss! I am working on losing the extraordinary amount of weight I gained after the birth of my kid, and getting into a smaller size jeans is definitely a good feeling. Happy spring! :)

  4. Isn’t that such a great feeling when those clothes get loose? Go Jenn!! I think getting some awesome new clothes will be awesome… not to mention make me jealous! I have to go shopping soon too, though! I have been losing. We’re both losers! Oh, in a good way, though!

Josh and I loved Shutter Island! I think you guys should go see it! Yay for date night!

  6. Oh, i’m jelous! I really want to go and see Shutter Island. It looks brilliant, but it was only showing a my local cinema in an audio described format, plus my friend doesn’t like scary films, so that plan was out the window.
