Ignoring the workaholic in me

When I first started working at Eden Fantasys a few weeks ago, I had the idea of integrating email with all of my other email accounts in Outlook. But within a day, the amount of email that came pouring it made it apparent that I’d definitely have to keep personal/freelance email and EF email separate. Fortunately, Outlook 2010 (beta) made that quite easy, as you can create mail accounts that use different .PST files. And in doing so, you get a completely separate folder listing for that separate email. Keeping things separate like that makes it easy to cease all EF work by 10:00pm EST, since I can just collapse all of the olders. That way I don’t see the new emails pouring in, so I’m not tempted or feeling obligated to see what’s up. ;) Then I can move on to personal emails, or work emails, or completing articles for wedding favors, or whatever.

I’ve spent the weekend working and just lazing about. Though tonight I did a little more, along with Dan, since we invited Jason over for a birthday dinner. His birthday isn’t until Tuesday, but between his schedule and ours, tonight was the only night that worked. So we had steak, twice-baked/loaded potatoes, and garden vegetables. And a homemade birthday cake for dessert, of course. The steak and potatoes were quite delicious, though unfortunately I wasn’t able to keep them down long enough to get any kind of nutrients out of them. The few bites of cake and icing, ironically, stayed down just fine.

In other news, my hair is pretty much back to brown. The fact that Manic Panic is pretty much temporary is fine with me — no lasting damage to my hair, whoo! But I do want to put some more color in it this week. I’m thinking a dark purple this time. What do you think?

Anyway, I’m watching New Moon on Blu-ray right now, so I guess I’ll wrap this up right about… now! Heh.

  1. I miss my workaholic days. Granted it was never really with WORK but with my gaming “work” heh. I miss doing all that writing and such. But oh well. Hopefully I’ll have a new job soon!

Great idea about separating your e-mail to keep you from peeking at emails all evening. I need to do that with my work e-mail. I check it on my iPhone so many times during the evening and all it does is stress me out.

I need to get to that workaholic state, but I’m having trouble finding decent writing work other than Demand.

Oh, and I say go for the dark purple!

  4. I like keeping my work and other emails separate as well. I use Thunderbird myself. It’s my favorite email program ever.

I’m a weirdo, but I hate separating my emails. I just like it all right there. I have Thunderbird, but I haven’t used it in ages, I only ever check my email on my Blackberry. I don’t feed my BIS and BES to different folders, I just have different background colors for the messages selected so I can distinguish them with a quick glance.

That dinner sounds delicious. It must be horrible to not be able to keep your food down though! :(

I think having purple hair would look fantastic on you, go for it Jenn!

  8. I use Thunderbird and do the same thing with my emails. I’d go bonkers if I wasn’t able to do that. Haha. I think dark purple in your hair would look AWESOME.

That’s the thing about Manic Panic, no matter how great it looks at first, it only lasts about a week before it washes out. That’s how it is with all the “semi-permanent” party colors; Paul Mitchell has a line called Ink, and despite it being more high-end, it still lasts just as long as Manic Panic.
