My house is turning into a small zoo

So here’s the rundown of the non-human creatures that reside in our house:

Blueboy
Blueboy is a ten year old bi-color Persian. He was a gift from my mom to my grandmother in September of 2000. I “inherited” him in August 2004.

Kirin
Kirin is an almost four year old Siamese/domestic mix. He was a gift from me to Dan for our second wedding anniversary — October 1st, 2006. I think it’s cute that Kirin and Ryan are exactly one month apart in age (Kirin was born on August 26th), and that Kirin really likes Ryan.

Max
Max is a three year old smoke Persian. My mom picked him out in August 2007, and I basically took him from her last year when it became apparent that he was nothing but a giant mat on legs (it was so bad that I had to take him to the vet, where they put him under general anesthesia in order to successfully shave him).

Fritzy
Fritzy is a two and a half year old shaded silver Persian — he is also Max’s half-brother (same father). My mom picked him out in October 2007 (at the same time that I picked out Simon, Fritzy’s brother. Simon has been living with Dan’s brothers for almost a year now!). She brought him over last summer when her house was having electric problems, and I suggested that we just keep him (he was also matted, though I was able to clear up most of them on my own).

Leah
Leah is an almost two year old Pug. I’ve had her since September 18th, 2008, when I picked her out from a local breeder.

In addition to the furry creatures, we also have:

It’s ridiculous… the entire pedestal drawer beneath my dryer is dedicated to pet supplies. But since I purchase big bags of cat food and dog food, those usually wind up being stored in a closet (I can’t leave them out because Kirin will chew them open). Canned food and treats stay in the kitchen, since those are accessed more frequently.

What kind of pets do you have?

Ohhh, are the frogs and hermit crabs still flourishing? :D Wait, do the crabs all still have the same name? lol

I have no pets… but I do have house plants? And one’s carnivorous, so it’s like having a pet… that just eats up the houseflies for me ;)

  2. @Michelle: Carnivorous house plant. That is so cool!

And yes, they’re still alive, hehe, and yes, all of the crabs are Cindy! They keep swapping shells, so we have no clue who’s who these days lol.

  3. @Angel: Ahh I don’t think I ever posted about that! His owners claimed him. :(

  4. i was about ready to say what angel did!!! awww wow i bet you all miss him!! he reminded me of sam

I had shadow, the gray kitty for almost 3 years (he left in feb in a snow storm and never came back)
i had duke the jack russell dog for about 7 months (till we moved the first time
and now i have Sam the orange crazy kitty!

  5. I feel for you 3 Persians. I have one and I can’t hardly keep the hair up. I vacuum I feel like all the time. My Persian will be 3 years old this summer. Pictures can be found here: http://twitpic.com/1wanj & http://twitpic.com/1xsa3

Yours look so angry. I am not sure why. lol :) Think most of them have that look.

You do have a small zoo. I feel that way at times. I have a ton of fish, two birds and two cats. And a dog from time to time. People drop them off at my house. I take care of them until I found a home for them. Crazy.

They’re all so adorable and cuddly looking. Kirin has amazing eyes that I just kinda found myself staring at hehe
I have a domestic short hair named Gizmo, that we usually just call “Cat” because he answers to it better.

That’s real zoo there you got Jenn

  8. You know that I have a zoo as well. I have 5 cats, 2 dogs, and a rabbit :P. I finally made a page for my pets too the other day!

  9. We have 3 dogs, 1 satanic cat, 2 birds and 3 saltwater fish tanks from 32 gallons up to 100 gallons. I love my zoo though!

  10. I have a 32 year old man. He makes more mess than our pet, who is a calico/turtle cat named Devin. I’m not too sure how old she is. We’ve had her for about 3 years and she wasn’t a tiny kitten when we got her, more of heading into her cat-teenage years.

We got her from a really shady pet shop that didn’t look like the cleanest pet shop we’ve ever seen, if you catch my drift. We stopped in completely on a whim one night and just saw her there, all alone in the cage. I was petting her and whenever I walked away, she would meow so I’d go back. The girl working there said that if I was looking for kittens it was the wrong season and they just had “that thing” over there. We got her that same night.

She isn’t a very friendly cat. She keeps to herself, doesn’t like to be touched and absolutely despises being held. She follows me around all day and is great around women, but she either hides or immediately attacks men. She’s a pretty bitchy cat, but sometimes she comes into the room and will rub up against your leg and then walk off. Surprisingly, she’s great around kids, as long as they don’t pick her up and we never got her declawed because after getting her fixed, she tore her stitches out and had to get re-stitched and then the vet wouldn’t give her the antibiotic she needed to heal because she kept attacking and I guess the vet was scared of her? Needless to say, I didn’t bring her back there and followed up with a better vet that treated her like a princess.

Damn, I’m rambling. I obviously have an immense amount of love for my cat because I can easily type about her all day.

  11. I… should probably just write a post about this lol. 3 dogs 3 cats and a mouse (at the moment). I shall blog it later :)

I have three Russian Blues — well, one actual *blue* one (but showing signs of getting tiny white spots), one who is more turtle-pattern than blue, and one who’s more black-brown than blue, but Russian Blues nonetheless… and four rabbits, one hermelin boy, one hermelin-lionhead girl, and her two mixed breed kidlets, a boy and a girl. :)

I want to have a long-haired cat but their dandruff is too much for my allergies. I can hardly hold my rabbits, especially the lionhead one because her fur is just all out there. :(

…I really should make a page for them.

Re: Max… why does your mother adopt animals, whyyyyyyyyy?

  13. Fritzy and Lea are especially cute?
Just wondering, are pugs generally good natured dogs?

I don’t have any pets, Mum doesn’t like them. But, I’m wondering what happened to that ginger cat you find? Did you end up finding the owner?

  15. Jessy wrote on #

such beautiful animals, all of them! especially Leah, I have a special place in my heart for pugs!

What an adorable zoo!! I love it!

I have 2 cats, 3 rabbits, and 1 snake. I actually have an entertainment center that my snake lives on. The entire thing is devoted to housing all my animal stuff. I also use a garbage can to hold the cat food.

I have four fish :B The feeder fish are about five years old, and the blood parakeet fish are about three.

. . . Did you know that all of your cats look like angry dictators? :O
