A new woman

This morning I ran into a neighbor of ours that we haven’t seen in a while. He kept looking at me and looking at me, and finally he says, “Hey, I know you! You live on [street], right?” When I replied in the affirmative and confirmed that we’re indeed neighbors, he laughed and looked a little sheepish, and finally said, “You know, at first I didn’t recognize you. You’ve lost a lot of weight, haven’t you?” I told him that I had gastric bypass surgery in November and that I’ve lost 116 lbs. and he kept saying, “Wow!” and “That’s amazing!”

The other thing he said — which made me laugh, TOTALLY made my day, and inspired the title to this blog entry — is “You know, when I saw you and your husband this past winter, I thought you were a different woman, his new woman! But obviously I didn’t want to say anything, so I didn’t.”

Even though it was implied that I left my husband or he left me, it’s pretty awesome to know that I look so drastically different than he — and maybe other people — have thought I was a different person entirely!

Ahh, casual acquaintances, they sure are honest sometimes! :D

That’s awesome! Such a great compliment to get :)

  3. After losing 100lbs myself, I always get “You lost a whole person!” and “That can’t be you!” in pictures. It always makes me laugh, especially now that I’ve gained a little bit back and think I look disgustingly fat again.

You do look much different now, obviously. 116lbs will make anyone look like a different person. In fact, when showing my mom your before and after pictures earlier, she thought the one of you sitting in your chair was a picture of me. :P

  4. It’s Ally from Take Me Nowhere, by the way. I’m sure you’re smart enough to figure that out by the stuff I mentioned in my previous comment, but I figured I’d let you know just in case.

To explain, I’ve decided upon a new personal blog and an alias to keep some stalker family members at bay. Take Me Nowhere is going to be a love/sex/relationship blog and my fiancee is going to start writing for it too. :)
