She takes after me

Partly as a reward for doing so well in preschool and partly just for the amusement of watching Alyssa explode in pure joy, I told her earlier this week that I would take her to the Hello Kitty store tomorrow. The catch: the nearest store is about 40 miles from here. She’s been whining all week about wanting to go but not wanting to have to go so far to get there. Tonight she asked if we could just go to the mall instead, since Claire’s has Hello Kitty stuff. Hmm… 40+ mile trip or 12 mile trip? Not a tough decision! Though still, a part of me wants to drag her down there so I can watch her eyes roll back in her head in pure pleasure at being surrounded by so much Hello Kitty. Her impatience with wanting to just get there is quite amusing.

Anyway, preschool ended today. It was a cold, foggy, icky day, but that didn’t stop the preschool mom that overfeeds her kid and doesn’t make her sit in a booster seat or even the back seat from showing up with her mullet freshly permed. I know, it’s mean of me to pick on her hairstyle. But a mullet? Seriously? And a permed one? Ack. I guess I pick on her hair because her parenting choices piss me the hell off. Way to set your kid up for obesity!

Back to positive things: Alyssa graduated from preschool! I know, not that she’d fail or anything, but still, it was a sweet milestone, and a great achievement. Ryan also graduated, but only from the 2-3 year old class, as he’ll be going back next fall in the 4-5 year old class (three days a week, YES!).

We came home and I wound up falling asleep on the sofa with my head in Dan’s lap. It was one of those little things that is still oh-so-sweet. He’s just so damn WARM and good feeling. He smells good too, which is always nice. But most of all, I was all over him for the WARMTH. It has been cold and wet and raw these last few days, and I have been freezing my miserable ass off. :(

Speaking of my ass, it has refused to budge for over two weeks now. I bounce between 215.4 and 216. Grrr. My frustration, let me show you it. Actually, I better not, ’cause things could get ugly. Suffice to say, I’m pretty peeved at this plateau. So far it’s the worst one I’ve experienced!

Anyway, before it gets later I’m going to go see if I can dig up this week’s episode of House. Bye!

Haha, I bet she would totally explode from the pinkness and bows ;) I think a trip to a Hello Kitty store would be awesome! Although, if I were her age, I’m not sure how well I would sit still well enough for the trip!
