Homemade cake batter ice cream: oh so good, but OH SO BAD. SO VERY BAD. BAD BAD BAD.

That is all. Excuse me while I drag my sorry, sick self into bed and pass out.

  1. You know sugar is going to cause that so why do you even attempt it? I know wheat is going to make me sick as hell so I make sure to very closely monitor my intake every day to prevent it. Making yourself sick like that is going to really slow down your progress because your body is going to have to feed on muscle to survive times like this.

Jenn, if you’re having problems with sugar, then you shouldn’t eat it. It’s bad enough for people to eat it when they don’t have problems with it after the surgery because it can keep you from losing weight, but to do something that will make you sick…it’s not good. I know that you might crave the ice cream, but it’s not a good thing to do.

  3. Aww. Sorry that you’re dumping, but that ice cream sounds amazing. Its my absolute favorite kind!

Gonna have to agree with Anna and Janet. You seem to be having problems when you eat the unhealthy foods. I actually finally looked up dumping and your body is rejecting the food because it knows it can’t handle it. I know the food is good, but why keep making yourself sick? :(

  5. Yeah, the ice cream sounds amazing, but I agree with the other three. I think you need to stop and regroup on this whole thing. I think you need to visit some more support groups and rethink what you are doing to yourself.

You made a major decision to have your insides messed with and you’re reaping every bad benefit of the surgery that I have reaped because of some of the things you are doing to yourself. I know you are aware of this because you make posts like this one.

I was taller and weighed less than you did and should have reached and sustained a goal fairly quickly. Did I mention I was 19 years old? Yep. Gastric bypass was a new and quick fix at the time and I was the youngest patient that the resident Podunk dr. ever did. I had my staples out a week later and was slapped on the ass and told to come in and get an accurate weight if I ever needed to use a scale, see ya, have a nice life.

You have tons of resources at your disposal. I had none. I also ate ice for a living out of a Baskin Robbins taster spoon as it was my job at the time. That’s all I consumed. I also drank like a fish. Sugar and Alcohol are probably the reason I graced every parking lot in the tri state area with my vomit. Every time I tried a decent meal it was on the ground and I was in pain.

I’m only telling you this because I hate to see it all be a waste. I lost 100lbs and it was great while I was thin and beautiful and young and not putting on pounds because all my food intake was on the ground. I still throw up. I still dump. I’ve gained every single pound and then a couple back.

I’ve only known one person who has had success with this surgery and he works his rear end off every day in the gym or outside exercising. He’s lean, he’s tone, and he’s in great shape. He had his surgery a couple months before you and he quit drinking except for maybe a glass of wine occasionally. He is doing all the right things.

I only wish I had exercised in a routine instead of doing it for a couple of weeks and then stopping. It’s important to tone that stuff up. I’m kinda sad that you mentioned cutting the fat away but when someone asked you about using the kettlebells you never replied. You should be able to tone those arms up pretty well, they don’t look that bad now!

And trust me, you are doing your insides no favors either. I’ve got a ton of health problems including lack of enamel on the back of my teeth which is a side effect of all the puking! And now? I failed, I just don’t want you to go down that road too. I know Janet has had a hard time of it…

With that said, yes I realize I need to get my own rear in shape so please don’t anyone think I’m being judgmental. I’m just sharing the gross truth of what went on with everyone I have known to go down this road.

  6. @Ranee: You made some very valid, awesome points. I’m being more physically active, though to be honest I haven’t yet gotten back into the Kettlebell routine because it seriously kicked my ass. But that’s a good thing, so I both need and WANT to get back into it. Misery loves company — I’m going to buy Dan a Kettlebell when we get paid this week and have him do it with me.

As far as the ice cream goes, believe it or not that’s probably the third time I’ve had ice cream since surgery six months ago. Normally I do great with the protein shakes, cheese, vitamins and calcium supplements, and the occasional treat. I dumped on the ice cream because I didn’t take into consideration the fact that it was homemade and thus SO much higher in sugar. Ugh. Believe me, it’s the last time that I will do that!

  7. It’s not so much the ice that bothers me it’s the alcohol. For some reason it’s killer. I’m not sure why though exactly.

I’m thinking of getting the kettelbells. I’m really going to try and get into shape this summer, swimming, walking, and working myself up with something like those for arm strength. I have no arm strength. Part of my problem is I need a very high protein diet and very low carb because of PCOS or I’m just going to sustain where I’m at. That’s a hard thing to change, protein doesn’t seem to be my friend!
