Name brand or generic?

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PBM Products. All opinions are 100% mine.

This is a choice I make just about any time I go shopping. From toilet paper to dish soap to personal care products to food, do I go for the pricier name brand, or do I give the generic a try? For some things, like baby wipes, paper towels, and paper plates, and other household “paper” products, generic suits me just fine. The only exception there is with toilet paper — nothing compares to Charmin, baby! I’m a little choosier with food, though I still sometimes go for generic, particularly when it comes to condiments, seasonings, and basic things like milk and eggs. But what about baby formula? The breastfeeding vs. formula debate aside (though I’ll throw it out there that I am very pro-breastfeeding), how do you go about selecting formula? With so many name brands stacked side-by-side with generic brands, it can be hard to make a choice, even though the difference in price between the two can often be significant.

Fortunately, the FDA strictly requires that formula manufacturers adhere to the same standards regardless of brand, so you don’t have to worry about a loss of quality or nutrients should you choose your grocery store’s version of Enfamil or Nestle Good Start. And if you shop at Walmart, you’ll have the option of Parent’s Choice. Parent’s Choice formula offers exactly what the name brands do, but at a cheaper cost. Take a look at the Savings Calculator in order to see for yourself. Enfamil Premium LIPIL, which is what I used when I had to supplement with Alyssa (I had major supply issues due to me having to pump and work 30-40 hours a week), is roughly $23.78 for a 23.4 oz. container. Parent’s Choice Premium, also in a 23.4 oz. container, is just $11.88.

Also worth noting: Parent’s Choice is available in several options, so you may want to considering using their Formula Finder in order to find the right formulation for your baby.
