I’ll be poolside.

Remember when you were a kid, and you couldn’t wait for the pool to open? The water was never too cold, and you could never spend too much time in the pool. Yeah? I remember those days too. I don’t know what happened, except that I Grew Up. All of a sudden I still like the pool, but more than anything I like going for Alyssa and Ryan. We’ve been there three days in a row now, and I’ve only spent maybe an hour or so worth of time in the pool myself. The rest of the time I’ve been poolside, sitting on the ledge splashing with Alyssa and Ryan (mainly Ryan, as Alyssa has been quite busy playing with other kids and practicing her swimming-aka-staying-afloat skills), relaxing on a chaise lounge, or sitting at a picnic table underneath the pavilion. (Note: both the chaise lounges and the picnic tables are within ten feet of the pool, so us bored parents are definitely close enough to be within yelling/screaming/saving distance)

This will be the first year that we’ll actually be purchasing a pool membership, but if the last three days are any indication, we’ll definitely get our money’s worth out of it. Pool admission is $6 per person (children 4 and under are free). The seasonal membership is $235. Even with just Alyssa and I, as Dan often works or isn’t interested in going swimming, that $6 apiece will quickly add up to that $325 membership fee! As it is I’ve already spent $42 on admission, and the pool has only been open for three days!

Today feels like anything but a Monday. I’m both looking forward to and dreading tomorrow. I’m looking forward to getting back into the daily grind, but at the same time waking up at 8:00am again is going to suck. ;)

I spent today lounging by the pool as well, because I too have grown up. I would have loved to have gone swimming, but the water was just too darn cold!

  2. This is completely off topic, but I have to ask! Are there supposed to be orange borders around your titles for your blog posts? >.> There are for me and I wasn’t sure if they were supposed to be there or not. If they are just ignore me. :D

Also. Man I wish we had a giant pool. T.T I used to LOVE to swim. I picked up a cheap small one for the kids at Wal mart for $25. That’s as close as we’ll get this year.

I remember the days when swimming was year round (growing up we had a pool), but nowadays I just don’t want to be in a bathing suit out in the sun. Bah.
