Rohto Eye Drops

Today Alyssa, Ryan and I spent four hours at the pool (if it weren’t for the sudden storm that rolled in, we would have been there for five hours). I went off the diving board a few times and splashed around in the water a lot more today than I did yesterday and the day before, and at one point Alyssa shot a stream of water right into my face. When I got out of the pool for good this afternoon, my eyes were screaming for relief from the chlorinated water that had gotten trapped between them and my contact lenses. But I was there by myself, with no backup contacts, no glasses, not even a bottle of solution. And of course the bottle of eye drops that I normally keep in my tote bag somehow wasn’t there.

So when I finally got home this evening (after making a quick stop at the grocery store, no less), the first thing I did was make a run for the bathroom, where I washed my hands and then pried my contacts out of my red, bloodshot, burning eyes. At this point I normally would have simply popped in some generic rewetting drops, grabbed my glasses, and ignored my dry, inflamed eyes for the rest of the evening. But since I recently received several bottles of Rohto Eye Drops to try out, I decided to use one of those instead.

Rohto Eye Drops are available in four formulas: Hydra for general lubrication and irritation relief; Artic for eye strain; Cool for lubrication and redness relief; and Ice for the alleviation of itching, burning, and irritation. All four formulas provide lubrication and relief from redness and irritation, but as you can see each formula also does something extra. Additionally, all four varieties of Rohto Eye Drops have a unique cooling sensation.

I have used Rohto Eye Drops several times now. Since receiving them a few weeks ago I have been using them to treat my eyes to some nice cooling relief at the end of the night, when my eyes have been subjected to 14-18 hours worth of contact lenses, computer-induced eye strain, air conditioners and ceiling fans. They work like a charm — though the only downside is not being able to use them until after I take my contacts out. And now that I know how well they work with calming my chlorinated eyeballs, let me tell you, I’ll be using them all of the time! I’m going to make these four bottles last as long as possible, though between Dan and I, I’m sure we’ll be buying more by the end of the summer.

Now that I’ve had the opportunity to experience the awesome relief that I did today, I am going to swear by these! I promise that this is an unbiased review of Rohto Eye Drops, but I won’t hide the fact that I was very excited to blog about my experiences with them! I’ll also put out there that while I really like all four varieties of Rohto Eye Drops, I would recommend proceeding with caution when using the Artic formula. The “cooling sensation” is almost a little much to handle. On the flip side, the flood of tears it generates definitely aids with moisturizing my eyes! Heh.

Overall, all four varieties of Rohto Eye Drops rock. They’re great for soothing general eye irritation, and I love that they’re also specifically formulated for eye strain, redness, burning, itch, etc. I would most definitely recommend these bad boys!

  1. I use the Rohto hydra drops. My eyes are really sensitive and these are awesome. :)

These eyedrops contain bleach and are actually horrible for your eyes. I still use them because they are effective but I hav eno clue what the long term effects would be.
